What did you cook/eat today: Parents and Kids Edition!
So...who's willing to share what their kids actually eat on a day to day basis? My little girl is 7 and in 2nd grade in public school IN TEXAS, so almost everything she eats has to be homemade. She just ate hummus on toast and two pickles for breakfast because I'm busy answering work emails. Oops.
Yesterday:
B: vanilla Silk yogurt w/strawberries and blueberries. Chai for her, coffee for me.
L: Tacos w/black beans, spinach, salsa (avocado on mine), leftover rice
S: popcorn, smoothies
D: giant veggie stirfry (squash, broccoli, cabbage, baby bok choy, carrots, celery, green onion, garlic, snow peas) with tofu, steamed rice
We made some strawberry muffins (from Vegan Brunch) for dessert...and I had two glasses of wine :P
Other parents...chime in please?
sometimes I feel like she eats the same 4-5 foods everyday, just in a different order!
This!
I also think that Lyle thinks anything that is on the counter tastes good. So if I stand there and break things up into little pieces and let him eat on the fly, its more likely that he will eat it. Once he's in that high chair, forget it! Except for breakfast, he pretty much chucks all high chair food on the floor.
Yes, try the cookie burgers! My measurement were estimates, so you might have to play with it.
Love this idea! :)
Today my 20-month-old ate:
B- Oatmeal with raisins and ground almonds, orange slices
S- Cucumber sticks, hummus
L- Sunflower seed butter and banana sandwich, baby carrots
S- Applesauce
D- brown rice pasta with lentil "meat"balls and tomato sauce, broccoli, animal crackers for dessert
Thanks for all the great ideas!
well crap. today Lyle wouldn't touch his cookie burger, nor his roasted butternut squash that he loved so much yesterday. Not even carrots with agave!
This kid is going to make me insane! I wonder if I should just feed him oatmeal for every meal...that's all he likes! :(

You're totally right, if Kea is eating something off of my plate or while I am cooking she is more likely to at least try it, but if she is in her high chair it seems to trigger meal time fussiness!
Today,
B-ezekial toast w/ EB
L-Purely O's, banana
s- rasins
D-ezekial toast again, smoothie with bananas, blueberries, rice milk
dessert a couple bites of TJ's organic soymilk ice cream
This!

today lyle will eat on the fly all day.
:)
he already ate breakfast in his chair- Bear Mush, toast and bananas, and apple juice mixed with blue green algae.
oops, where did my comment go up there....LOL.... I was aying that my daughter is the same way, she is much more likely to at least try something if I'm cooking it or she takes a nibble off of my plate than if she is in her high chair!
baby, how old is your daughter?
babygotsauce, my daughter had the same reaction to a lot of foods when she was little. Bell peppers, strawberries, citrus, tamarind, most juices. Now, the only thing that still bothers her is tamarind, and I have to make sure she doesn't drink too much oj at school or whatever. It sounds like your daughter may outgrow hers, too!
Yesterday
B-clementine, pear
S-choc. pie, bit of blueberry muffin
L-pizza
D-pizza
Quite a junkfood day! We weren't home all day! But today she'll be at her mamaw's and I'm sure she'll eat well.
L2A, she just turned 2 in November, how old are your two?
NMP thats great news!!! What age did your daughter grow out of hers?
I still have my fingers crossed a little when I give her soy, but so far soy good,:)
Today,
B-wwheat noodles w/ EB, ((and steamed brocolli, not eaten though))
S- raisins
L-bean and veggie soup
D-more noodles, rasins, and a couple servings of blueberry, banana, rice milk and hemp seed smoothie
She really likes to cook and if I offer her things to sprinkle or shake on her food she loves it and will usually eat it. I let her shake kelp, and nut. yeast on her pasta and soup and shelled hemp seeds on her smoothies or yogurt. I think I might make her a ground up powder of all of them and put it in a seperate shaker just for her to put on her foods.
we have a jar with a bunch of stuff mixed in that we put on lyle's food.
it has wheat germ, nut yeast, and brewer's yeast in it.
good idea on letting her shake it! we might try that when he's older.
Lyle is 17 months, and Noah is 8 years old
DH just fed Lyle hot cereal (bear mush) with pinto beans mixed in. he never knew it!
babygotsauce, my daughter had pretty much outgrown her sensitivities by age 3.
