Pre-Thanksgiving-Vegan-Thanksgiving-Potluck! Albany, NY!

I've decided it's close enough to fall, fall being "September" to start talking about the next Albany potluck. I'm proposing an official

PRE-THANKSGIVING-VEGAN-THANKSGIVING-POTLUCK at chez rabid child in Albany.

All the great things about Thanksgiving without the dead bird! I'm thinking some weekend in late October or early November. The only weekend that I know of that would be bad for me right now is the w/e of Oct 25/26 because I'm going to have a take-home midterm to deal with that weekend. Hmph. I figure starting to plan early gives us ample time to figure out schedules and plan pre-potluck diets to accommodate the the massive amount of carbs and dessert we'll be consuming. I'm opening this up to all three of my internet-veg-hangouts, which is going to be great fun coordination wise! SO!

Who's interested? What weekends are you free? Saturday or Sunday? Who's bringing the pumpkin pie? (Ok, I guess that's a few steps further down the line)

(Can you tell the semester just started and I need something to look forward to before Christmas?)

i am doing:

mashed potatoes - per cammer and DR (and most people's needs)
Brussel sprouts
butternut squash

i can do GB but i've never had/made a GB casserole. i don't like them "that" cooked.

cammers is bringing a pumpkin pie, maybe i can call him right now (ha ha ha on  the phone) and see what else he plans. maybe some appetizers? banana bread

I made some nanner bread because I had four black bananas that needed urgent attention.
I've only ever made sauteed green beans or like, green beans and slivered almonds.

I decided against making the banana bread since you have some RC, and instead made 2 pumpkin pies, one with pecan topping.  I Hungy!!!

I'm excited about all this food!  Yay for galumpkies (sp), garlic mashed potatoes, and popcorn balls!

Oh, you mean two words to describe the potluck... ok then, "I'm beached."

I just had a SeiTurkey and Cranberry sauce sandwich for dinner. So good! Sir Didymus wanted some.

Speaking of leftovers, LA left a butt load of her galumpkies (sp) with us here in Albany, and I've been feasting on them cold even, and they are delish.
We had so much leftovers that even after giving away as much pumpkin pie as I could, I still had a full one left over to myself.  By the way, they are even better 2 days later.

i really think "crock cheeze" sums it up. i can compare it to a vegan-ish religious experiance. that crap tastes like cheeselogs!!

Inquiring minds want to know: Is this the straight-up Crock Cheez recipe from The Ultimate Uncheese Cookbook?  Or is it one of the variations?  Or some other recipe?

i made some with tahini and barley miso and it isn't as fantastic. but it's still good. i ran out of paprika so i just mixed some in, so maybe tomorrow it will be MORE awesome.

Didnt RC say she left hers to sit a bit,it was better later?
I looked the recipe up last night too, i gots to make some..i have naked crackers in the house.  :P

So whats with the really real thanksgiving gettogether talk, is it for serious? Do we want to try and do it here?

Sorry, one more question: Did you use raw cashew butter, as the recipe calls for?  (I have roasted on hand; so I'm hoping you'll say no...)
