BTW I didn't use the salsa recipe from La Dolce Vegan for this scramble but another homemade salsa picante. The only difference I made to this was no cilantro, as I didn't have any - I thought this would be major, but the salsa turned out great without it.  I also just eyeballed the amounts for the canned chilies, as was not making a full recipe, and we don't have same sized cans as she recommends.  I loved this salsa - I tried a bit on it's own and it was really good - much better than expected.  I would never have thought of putting celery seed in salsa but that gave it a great flavour.  Will make again. Makes a nice creamy sauce. Had to reduce the milk to one cup to get a thick enough sauce. The milk dilutes a lot of the cheese flavor, but it's a good way to stretch out your vegan cheese budget. I usually add some nooch and cayenne to make up for it. I also use a dash of dry mustard instead of the dijon. (kristinv)
I love this recipe. I made it with Follow Your Heart Cheese, which doesn't melt as well as Daiya, and it tasted amazing. (haricot)
I wanted to try this, because it's very similar to my usual mac and cheese, but uses the flour. It's good, but I like mine better, and no flour needed! Daiya is enough to thicken the sauce, and it can cook down as needed. I also like to add quite a bit of nooch to up the flavor. As is, this was a mild flavor, but still creamy and good. (AC)

Pasta with 5 Minute Roasted Red Pepper Pesto
was one of the first dishes I made as a newbie vegan and it has become an instant favourite! I've made several times already -- such an easy recipe & really yummy. I served it to mega-omni friends and they loved it so much they asked me for the recipe! I'm not using as much garlic as the recipe calls for though. And if I don't have enough fresh basil I (partly) use a basil herb cube instead. (gnoe)
Pasta with Fresh 5 Minute Basil Tomato Sauce
So good! I didn't measure the basil, but used way more. This sauce is so fresh and tasty. I wouldn't normally process a fresh tomato sauce, but this works really well. It gets a little watery, but I don't mind. I would only suggest adding more basil, but it doesn't need anything else. Will definitely make again. Only takes the time for the pasta to cook. (AC)

We both loved these!  I made them and then thought with the lack of ingredients that they would be plain and boring, but no way - they were great.  I managed to find cannelloni that didn't need precooking before going in the oven and so it was also pretty simple to make.  N really enjoyed the bits of sun dried tomatoes in the cheesy sauce, so may use that again for other recipes.  N has said I could make this again - always a good sign. Mock Beef and Rice Noodle Toss
Okay, well I kind of just used this as a sort of inspiration. Instead of using seitan, I marinated a cup of chopped tempeh in the teriyaki sauce. I used a half of a vidalia onion rather than a small red onion, added 2 cups of steamed broccoli, and used two cups of cooked brown rice in place of the rice noodles. So it was kind of like a stir fry sort of deal. It tasted really good! I'd like to try it with noodles sometime, but the rice was just waiting to be used up. Next time will be noodle time. Fail.  Did not like this at all.  I'm not sure what I didn't like, but I think it's just the plainness of it all and that balsamic vinegar just wasn't right and that kale and tofu are a bad pair.  I used a whole lb of tofu instead of a 1/2 pound and didn't add any pine nuts at the end.  To make it taste better I drenched it with Maggi seasoning and that helped some.  (tweety)

Fantastic.  Everything came together real well for a very tasty main course meal.  I used 2 15 oz. cans instead of one 19 oz. can of mixed beans but otherwise followed the recipe.  I liked the method of sauteeing the eggplant and then not simmering but 10 minutes, which kept the eggplant from becoming mush.   I like how the fresh tomatoes were added at the end rather than cooked, it added a great dimension of flavor.  Total redemption from the fail mentioned above. I loved these!  The flavours were fantastic and they were really easy to make.  In the intro she says that they take a bit more time to make than others in the book, but I thought it was real quick for a substantial meal.  I baked mine in the oven as I like how the tortilla goes crunchy and even with the 15mins baking, it was probably only about 40 mins total.  N also loved these and said I can definitely make them again - he liked them enough to say I should serve them to guests! (I didn't use the optional vegan cheese, and don't think they needed them)

We loved this!  I probably haven't had meat loaf in like 25 years, but I had a craving for it.  This recipe totally satisfied the craving.  Instead of burger crumbles, I crumbled 2 packages of tempeh in the processor and browned it in a skillet.  I also added about 1/2 tsp browning sauce.  Other than that, I pretty much followed the recipe.  I served it while it was still really hot and it did not hold together well at all.  The leftovers were much firmer and sliced nicely.  The next time I make this, I will cook it a day before serving.  Seriously delicious! My boyfriend, my dad and I just love this sauce. We've been eating it at least once a month for the past few years. I've tried several nutritional yeast-based "cheese" sauces over the years, and this is the best by far... but I am a nooch-lover. And that sauce only takes a few minutes to prepare. A nice, hearty gravy. I used cremini mushroom because they have a stronger taste and opted for the chunky version instead of putting it in the blender. I added some chopped cashews (15 gr) for a topping and the nutty flavour was a great addition. When I try the smooth version next time I'll probably make the cashews part of the sauce. (gnoe)

They were ok.  Not very sweet but that is to be expected since there's only 3 tablespoons of sugar in the whole batch.  What bothered me the most about these cookies was the texture....just didn't taste like the oatmeal cookies I remembered as an omni/vegetarian.  I'd make them again except I'd add another tablespoon of sugar and a lot more raisins or even chocolate chips to make them even more sweet. Made these thanks to the review above ^, and so glad I did! These are perfect for summer. So good and quick, and no heat, except a little stove. Yum. I was surprised there are no chocolate chips in the recipe, so I added a handful. I don't know how they are without them, but loved them like this. Chocolately, with a bit of peanut butter, and oat texture. I used pecans for the nuts. She says you get 8 large cookies, but she must be making cake sized cookies. I think I made like 15 tablespoon sized cookies. Will make these again, and try variations.  (AC)

Very surprised by this cornbread! I did double the sugar (6 tbs), but otherwise stuck to the recipe. I like a sweeter cornbread. This turned out quite good. I baked 25 minutes, and it's not dry at all, with perfect cornbread texture. Flavor is excellent. Super simple..took me about 5 minutes to mix together. I was skeptical of not mixing the milk and ACV together first, but I guess it works well either way. I wouldn't be opposed to this again. Very, very good. I think I liked these more than P did, but I'm not sure why they weren't his favorite. He did like them. I think the texture is perfect (light and fluffy, crispy top) and very flavorful. I used a few white sesame seeds and mainly black for the top. I mixed it all by hand and didn't knead for long. There's not much instruction for the best way to make these breadsticks, but I just hand shaped them instead of rolling out. I somehow did get 10! I guess I made them about 6". Mine rose for maybe close to an hour instead of 20 minutes, and I think they were pretty perfect. 15 minutes for baking was right on; the tops browned nicely. Would make again. (AC)

Cinnamon Walnut Coffee Cake - Very good! One of my favourite coffee cakes to make. I always replace the walnuts with almonds.

Breakfast Brown Rice Pudding - Pretty good. A bit too liquidy, but that could be on my part.

Danica's Popcorn Balls - Didn't work out for me. That is probably because I used tub margarine (smart balance lite with flax). I might try this again with EB.

Frenchie Onion Soup - Yummy! I should make this again soon.

Seaweed Soup - This gave me a stomach ache for some reason. Will not make again any time soon.

Simple Leek and Potato Soup - Simple and delicious. It's just your basic leek and potato soup, but what's wrong with that? It's a keeper.

Quick Ginger Carrot Soup - Pretty good. I prefer carrot soups that have curry powder in them, but this was good enough to enjoy thoroughly.

Tomato Cabbage Soup - Tasted just like the title would suggest. Cabbage soup that's tomato-y. Good for what it is, I guess. It's not something I would make a lot.

Wendy's Lentil and Brown Rice Casserole - Okayish. Not overly flavourful or anything like that. Just meh.

Magnificent Mixed Beans and Bulgur- Didn't work out well. The bulgur never ended up cooking.

Tip Top Tofu Loaf - Just a note - double the recipe to have it in a 9x5 pan. Otherwise you need to use a mini-loaf pan to have it "fit." The recipe described as is would result in a wicked thin tofu loaf :p

Cinnamon Doughnut Holes - Weird. I didn't like these at all.

Jae's Peanut Butter Fudge - I wish this worked out, but I SUCK at making candy. I screwed this up so bad. I can't remember what went wrong, but it was the first time I ever used a candy thermometer/made a candy, so I inevitably screwed up and freaked out. I'll try making this again sometime...

Hal's Maple Flax Brownies -  I like these. The combo of maple and chocolate is actually rather tasty.

Wolffie's Snickerdoodles - Not snickerdoodle-y at all. More like a cinnamon-sugar cookie. But good anyways. Just not a snickerdoodle.

Pasta with Fresh 5 Minute Basil Tomato Sauce
So good! I didn't measure the basil, but used way more. This sauce is so fresh and tasty. I wouldn't normally process a fresh tomato sauce, but this works really well. It gets a little watery, but I don't mind. I would only suggest adding more basil, but it doesn't need anything else. Will definitely make again. Only takes the time for the pasta to cook.

The Pasta with 5 Minute Roasted Red Pepper Pesto was one of the first dishes I made as a newbie vegan and it has become an instant favourite! I've made several times already -- such an easy recipe & really yummy. I served it to mega-omni friends and they loved it so much they asked me for the recipe! I'm not using as much garlic as the recipe calls for though. And if I don't have enough fresh basil I (partly) use a basil herb cube instead.

Sesame Miso Vinaigrette
I like this easy dressing although it's pretty salty. I've made it with red miso and will try white next time. Especially good in a salad with legumes like green beans.

Yeast Free Pizza Crust
This is really good! Easy and tasty. Think 'American pizza' though, not European! ;) I'll be trying this as a savoury pie dough someday as well...

Faux Sour Cream
A nice addition to (for example) a Mexican meal but it doesn't really taste like sour cream.

Looks good! To test to see if its done, all you have to do is tap to see if it's hollow. I generally only bake this for 20 minutes though, just for reference. Try the recipe from The Garden of Vegan if you have it...it is actually slightly different, and I like the recipe a little bit more than this one :)

Salsa scramble
This makes a good tofu scramble but nothing special in my opinion; I think I prefer the recipe for Sleepy Sunday Tofu Scramble. I love avocado but it blended in with the scramble so much that I could hardly taste it anymore. :(
BTW I didn't use the salsa recipe from La Dolce Vegan for this scramble but another homemade salsa picante. Of course it's important which salsa you use since it has such an important role in this dish.

Mushroom gravy
A nice, hearty gravy. I used cremini mushroom because they have a stronger taste and opted for the chunky version instead of putting it in the blender. I added some chopped cashews (15 gr) for a topping and the nutty flavour was a great addition. When I try the smooth version next time I'll probably make the cashews part of the sauce.

Sweet Basil Dressing

Pretty good.  Nothing special.  I don't know that the rice vinegar is all that noticeable.  I think it would be fine to substitute apple cider or white vinegar.  I used fresh basil and added some red chili flakes for a little spice.
