Twisted Cumin Sticks

What you need:

3 puff pastry sheets (8"x4")
2 tablespoon cumin seeds
1 teaspoon salt
some water

What you do:

Thaw the puff pastry sheets for 15 minutes. Meanwhile heat the oven to 370F.Now roll sheets to make them a bit wider. Sprinkle with cumin and salt evenly and cut into 1" strips broadways. Take one strip, hold one end steady and twist the other one to make a splice.
Put on parchment paper and bake about 20 minutes until golden brown. It's a big hit with beer!

Are you sure that's phyllo dough and not puff pastry dough? In the photo, it doesn't look like phyllo at all. (Phyllo is a very flat dough that comes in paper thin sheets and does not rise or puff up at all. It just gets crisp. It's traditionally used for spanikopita and baklava). On the other hand, puff pastry dough puffs up a lot! Just thought I might clarify in case anyone else is puzzled.

i wasn't really a fan of these. they didn't have enough flavor. i think if it was ground cumin it would be better since the oven time isn't enough to release much of the cumin goodness.
