Tipsy Dried Fruit Compote

What you need: 

12 oz whole dried fruits, such as pear, apricot, peach, fig and banana
3 tablespoons maple syrup
1/2 pint med-dry sherry
juice of 1 to 2 oranges

What you do: 

Put dried fruit in a bowl and cover with water. Soak overnight and then drain. Place fruit in an ovenproof dish.
Combine maple syrup, sherry and juice and pour over fruit. Cover dish and bake at 350 Fahrenheit for 45-60 minutes until fruit is tender. Serve hot.

SO HOW'D IT GO?

Although more than edible any time, this compote is especially delicious in winter, consumed in front of a roaring open fire.
