1 cup basmati rice (long grain)
cumin seeds (2 Tablespoon), cloves (5), whole
1 1/4 cup peas, 1 onion, 2 cup mixed vegetables (could include cauliflower, bell pepper, mushrooms, potatoes)
1 1/2 cup water
Chop the onions and vegetables (medium size)
Stove at High: Put 4 table spoon oil in the stir fry. Add chopped onion, cloves and black pepper. Stir for 3 minutes.
Add the chopped vegetables. Stir till onion golden brown.
Add Cumin seeds. Stir for 2 minutes.
Add peas and stir for 3 minutes.
Add 1/4 water, rice and 2 table spoon Oil. Stir till water dries.
Stove at medium: Add remain water ( 1 & 1/4 cup). Cover the dish carefully. Steam should not leak. Cook at medium for 1/2 hour or till the rice is done.(do not open the dish in between, the rice is supposed to be steam cooked)
If using a pressure cooker wait for 1 whistle and then leave the cooker for 10 minutes.
