Super Easy Falafel

What you need:

Falafel:
1 cup canned chickpeas, rinsed
1/2 white onion, chopped
1 tablespoon flour
1 teaspoon cumin
1 teaspoon dried parsley
1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
salt and pepper, to taste
canola oil, for frying Tzatziki Sauce:
1 cup vegan sour cream or plain vegan yogurt
1/4 cup cucumber, grated
1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
pepper, to taste

What you do:

1. For falafel, grind up the chickpeas in a food processor. Add onion, flour, and seasonings (cumin, parsley, garlic powder, salt, and pepper). Keep processing until the mixture becomes a thick paste.
2. Heat canola oil in a small saucepan to about 350 degrees Fahrenheit. While the oil is heating up, take a golf ball sized about of the chickpea mixture, roll it into a ball, then slightly flatten it. Fry the patties in oil until they are golden and crispy.
3. For sauce, In a bowl, thoroughly stir together all sauce ingredients.
That's pretty much it! It's really simple but delicious! Hope you enjoy it.
Source of recipe: Starving and had a can of chickpeas. Sooo delicious! I make this the traditional middle eastern way by placing the falafel on pita bread and veganizing my Greek family's Tzatziki sauce!

SO HOW'D IT GO?

The flavour was great..but the texture was too soft.. I added a little flour and more chuckles but it was still too soft inside.

Maybe try adding less water. I only have a one cup food processor so it won't process unless I add water. It also depends on the chick peas. Sorry it didn't work for you!  :-\

this didn't work for me at all. They were just so mushy. The batter (for lack of a better word), was impossible to make into balls, it was just way too thin. I added more flour, but it didn't make a difference. I fry them and they stayed total mush. Then I tried baking some and they turned out way better. The baked ones were still mushy, but not near as mushy as the fried ones. They tasted fantastic though. I'm not sure if I messed this simple recipe up some how, or if they were supposed to be this way.

would they work if I baked them? I'm fine with rolling them in a bit of oil first if it's necessary. Anyone know if it would still turn out?

Hmm I've never tried it! It'd prob be healthier if it was baked  :)

AMAZING!! The falafel and sauce were both excellent, perfect. It was so easy I immediately made another batch for left overs. WAY better than any mix out there. Thank you for posting this!
