Second Base's Berry Port Sauce
2 1/4 cups berries of your choice. (raspberries are great. and blackberries and
strawberries. Cherries are most decadent though!)
1/8 cup sugar
1/8 teaspoon cinnamon
1/4 teaspoon almond extract
3/4 cup Port (or other dessert wine)
Combine ingredients in a medium saucepan and cook on medium-high.
Simmer for 15 minutes, then chill completely.
This is a sinfully sweet sauce that is fantastic on any cake, especially white/yellow, angel food or chocolate.
