Nutritional Yeast Queso Sauce

What you need: 

1/4 cup nutritional yeast
1/4 cup flour
1 teaspoon paprika
1 teaspoon salt
dash garlic powder
1 cup water
2 tablespoons margarine
1 1/2 cups salsa or 1 (10 ounce) can diced tomatoes and peppers
tortilla chips, to serve

What you do: 

1. In a saucepan combine dry ingredients (nutritional yeast, flour, paprika, salt, and garlic powder).
2. Whisk in water. Continue to whisk constantly over medium heat until mixture is thick and bubbly. Remove from heat.
3. Stir in margarine until melted, then stir in salsa. Return to low heat and cook just long enough for salsa to heat.
4. Pour over chips and eat like nachos or use as a dip.
Remember to always whisk it!
Source of recipe: I got this recipe from a friend a couple of years ago and it is by far the best vegan queso I have ever had. Add this to any and all Tex-Mex that you make or use as a spread on sandwiches.

SO HOW'D IT GO?

This recipe was quick and pretty good.  I added some crushed red peppers to give it a kick.  It will be great on tacos tonight!

I found this recipe this afternoon and just had to try it tonight.  I mixed it in my hubby's taco salad and I poured some over chips.

IT WAS AMAZING!!!!

I LOVE you.  Thank you so much!  This is just amazing.  We make it ALL the time using salsa.  Non-vegans can NOT tell the difference.

Very good!  I forgot to put in any sort of oil or margarine and it still turned out awesome.  Thanks for the recipe.

Oh man this sauce is AMAZING! I added only 2/3 cup of salsa and less salt and it was still great (I also added extra garlic powder, onion powder, chili powder, and chipotle powder), soooo satisfying and delicious. I ate mine over pasta :)

If you are using traditional non-dairy creamer it has milk products in it and it is not vegan.

But then maybe neither are you!

After half a bag of tortilla chips, I'm sitting here absolutely stuffed full, and I could still eat more!  Best nacho sauce ever!

This was really delicious! I added only about 2 tsp. of Earth Balance, about 1/8 c. salsa, and 1/2 tsp. Hungarian smoked paprika. I think there was too much salt, so I'll cut that down to about 3/4 tsp. next time, but this was really terrific! And fast!! Thank you! Oh--I also added cumin. Yum!
