Mames Steamed Kale

What you need:

2-3 tablespoons sesame seeds
1 bunch kale (about 1/2 pound), sliced 1/4" thick
2 tablespoons olive oil
2 tablespoons tamari
1 clove garlic, pressed

What you do:

1. Toast sesame seeds in a frying pan with no oil, watch carefully so they don't burn. Get your steamer going full force.
2. Drop kale into the steamer, cover and time them exactly 3 minutes on high heat
3. Remove after 3 minutes and toss with the olive oil, tamari, garlic and toasted sesame seeds. Serve at once.

Preparation Time:
10 minutes

SO HOW'D IT GO?

I usually don't like when people change up the recipe and review it, but looks like that's what I did so here goes.  Had some kale and a reluctant kale eating husband and wanted to try something different and saw this recipe.  No tamari or sesame seeds so I toasted up some pepitas and substituted Bragg's for the tamari.  I also used half of the olive oil and added in some sriracha (he likes things spicy).  The verdict? He didn't hate the kale!  This was super easy to make and for him to like it and eat it without complaining makes it a big hit for our house.  Thanks!

Simple and delicious! This was my first time cooking kale and it turned out great! Love it.

Unfortunately I didn't pay attention to the review above me or my own instincts.  As written, I think this recipe has too much oil and too much tamari.  Cut back on both and it would be very good.  Or you could serve it over rice or something to dilute the flavor/oil.

Very good.  The only kale recipe I've found that I enjoy.  I used tahini instead of sesame seeds because its what I had on hand.  Only used 1 tsp oil and half the tamar (low sodium variety)i.  That said, this is way too salty for me.  Will use a lot less next time.  My toddler is eating it too!  Thanks.

OH MY GOSH!!!! This has got to be my new MOST FAVORITE food! I doubled the recipe as we have a large family. I also used bragg instead of tamari. This is superb! Even my picky 5 year old ate some, not all but some anyway! You got to try it!  :D
