Low Fat and Fast Bean Dip

What you need: 

1 (16 ounce) can beans, drained and rinsed (I like to use black beans)
1 to 1 1/2 cups salsa
salt and pepper, to taste
1/2-1 teaspoon chili powder, optional
1/2-1 teaspoon onion powder, optional
1/2-1 teaspoon garlic powder, optional

What you do: 

1. Mash beans with back of fork.
2. Stir in salsa until desired consistency for dipping.
3. Season with spices, as desired.
Use as dip with veggies, chips, pita wedges, etc. and enjoy.
Source of recipe: I made this recipe up one day when I was seriously low on food. I take it to parties all the time now, and people always rave about how good it is. I don't like to give up my secret on how ridiculously simple it is to make.

This recipe is great!!  Usually when I want a snack, I want it fast - this is perfect for fast!  I actually used a can of low-fat refried black beans and skipped the mashing step!


Oh, I make this all the time! I didn't know it was a recipe on here. I also recommend mashing up an avocado into the dip too. Also good with some NY mixed in. I used to make this in college when I didn't have enough time to make anything else.


this was yum-my! so simple, but wouldn't have thought of it myself. i hate making lots of dishes and hauling the food processor out if i'm just making a lazy snack for myself, so this was perfect.


So simple. And so good. A great way to get some protein in with your veggies. I also make my own chips and they are baked and could always use an extra punch. This definantly provides it.


At my last book club some one brought a Salsa Chicken Paté, she said it was just pureéd chicken with salsa and the key ingredient was taco seasoning.  I didn't eat any of course, but I was trying to figure out how to make a similar dip, only vegan.  This recipe pretty much solves that recipe dilemma for me, I'll just use my homemade taco seasoning for the seasoning part in the recipe.  Thanks Buffaloveggie!
