Jamies Cheap Easy Granola

What you need:

2 pounds thick cut oats
1 cup sunflower nuts
1/2 cup flaxseeds
1 cup almonds, chopped
1/2 cup wheat germ
1/4 cup molasses (little less)
1/4 cup vegetable oil (little less)
1/4 cup maple syrup (little less)

What you do:

1. Preheat oven to 300 degrees F. Mix all dry ingredients together in very large bowl. Mix the molasses, oil, and syrup in a small bowl or measuring cup until well blended.
2. Drizzle molasses mixture over dry mix. Stir well. I usually just dive in with my hands, that usually mixes it better than any spoon I've ever used. Mix until coated. It will be somewhat dry looking, not too wet.
3. Pour about 1/3 of it onto a cookie sheet. Spread evenly. Bake for 5 minutes. Remove from oven and stir, spread evenly and return to oven for an additional 5 minutes.
4. Granola shouldn't get too brown, just become a bit crunchy. Transfer to an extra bowl to cool, and repeat this process until all is cooked.
Place in air tight container and devour with soy milk at every opportunity.

SO HOW'D IT GO?

very good stuff. Added dried cranberries, golden raisins, and pumpkin seeds instead of sunflower. Perfect recipe. Thanks!

Absolutely delicious!!  I added dried cranberries as well and substituted some of the oil for more maple syrup--which was great!!  I had a lot of puffed wheat cereal to use, so I added some of this in for the oats and again added a great texture to the granola!  ;D

Just made it now and it turn out great! I also added some dried cranberries. It was a bit more labour intensive than I thought, with the stiring and doing it in batches. Had i known I probably wouldn't have tried it, but now I'm glad I did and will do it again  ;)
