Garbanzo Tacos

What you need:

2 (15 ounce) cans garbanzo beans (1 can, drained)
1 (1 1/4 ounce) packet vegan taco seasoning
lettuce, shredded, to taste
6 large tortillas or 12 hard taco shells
tomatoes, chopped, to taste
onions, diced, to taste
salsa, to taste

What you do:

1. Dump both cans of beans into a skillet (but use the liquid from only one can). Dump in the taco seasoning.
2. Stir and let simmer for about 10-15 minutes.
3. Add beans and other ingredients to your tacos, burritos, and/or taco salads.
Especially good recipe for those who aren't crazy about the flavor of garbanzo beans. The seasoning takes over.

SO HOW'D IT GO?

This recipe is stupidly easy. I make these all the time!

This was indeed very simple to do. I found that by replacing half of the garbanzo beans by black beans gave a pretty delicious result as well.

I love garbanzo beans and tacos so look forward to this, but just wondering if I'm out of garbanzo beans has anyone substituted pinto beans or done 1/2 pinto with garbanzo if they only had 1 can?  I admire people who write their own recipes -- great job!

After a 9 hour work day and a visit to the gym, this is the perfect meal to come home and prepare. Quick, easy and tasty! One of my favorite tacos ever!

This recipe has become a staple in our house!  It is so damn simple, but i swear, now i'm convinced its a million times better than the meat ever was. I mash the chickpeas up a bit so that they are easier to manage, but other than that I make it just like the recipe says.  It is so nice to have tacos again!

these were good.  all y boys liked them including my husband!  I added green peepers, red, green, and white onions, and mushrooms.  And I also mashed the beans a bit so they wouldnt roll off the tacos and served them in hard and soft shells soooo good!

I made this again and used black beans.  It was also delicious!

these were amazing! they're our new favorite taco filling, so much better than the veggie crumbles. the filling was also great as a dip - i added a little tofutti sour cream to make it smooth and dug in with tortilla chips! yum :)

I have to agree that the beans were better than the veggie crumbles. :)  Very simple and tasty. I do agree that it makes the chowing down easier if you mash the beans.

This is a great recipe.  I slightly mashed my beans while they were simmering.  It was a great idea because I think it helped to flavor them better.  I will pass this along and use it again myself!
