Fool the Omnis Chili Con Queso Dip

What you need:

1/2 small to medium yellow onion, diced
2 teaspoons vegetable or canola oil
4 ounces burger crumbles (I used Boca)
3/4-1 (1 1/4 ounce) packet vegan taco seasoning
1/2 cup nutritional yeast
1/2 cup flour
2 cups water
1/2 (16 ounce) jar salsa or picante sauce (1 cup)
salt, to taste
2 teaspoons garlic powder, optional

What you do:

1. Saute the onion with the oil, add burger crumbles and cook until heated through.
2. Add taco seasoning and saute for a few more minutes.
3. Whisk together yeast, flour and water. Add to burger mixture and whisk continuously until thickened. Stir in salsa.
That's it! I kept mine warm in a crock pot, and it held for several hours. 3 of my friends ate this in one sitting with 2 entire bags of chips.

I love this recipe!  I added an entire can of enchilada sauce instead of salsa, threw in some sauteed "beef-less strips" from Trader Joe's, and made a cheezy, spicy, delicious stew!  It makes my tummy happy, and cures my cheese cravings in a flash.

This concoction is amazing. MY brother, his girlfriend, and another meateater were totally fooled. They, nor I, could wrap our brains around how delicious this recipe is. It's so good me and my girlfriend made it two days in a row and was even requested at the Super Bowl party.
