Date Shake

What you need:

1 cup soy (unsweetened) or rice milk
1 frozen banana (peeled and cut into chunks before frozen)
6 dates (Medjool variety are best)
1 tablespoon of maple syrup or other sweetener
dash of nutmeg and cinnamon (optional)

What you do:

Place soy milk in blender and at low speed, add dates, one at a time until the dates are completely pulverized. Add frozen banana chunks, one at a time until you achieve the consistency you like. Add maple syrup and spices. Serve immediately!
I like to pour this into a bowl, freeze it slightly, and eat it with a spoon. Yum!!!!

SO HOW'D IT GO?

Made something similar this morning with four dried prunes (omg californian prunes are delish), a little soya milk and some coconut milk i had leftover, with frozen nana of course!  It was good but can be improved upon I'm sure!

This time I made it with Amasake and home made pumpkin seed milk instead of the rice milk (less than the recipe called for). I accidentally put too much maple syrup and it was so sweet I had to add water.
I really like this recipe, though next time I'll only add a teaspoon of maple syrup for flavouring, the dates and banana are so sweet as it is.
My now five year old and my two year old were both very good helpers.

Great recipe. It was to thin for my taste; I had to microwave the banana for about 30 seconds since it was frozen with the peel on for thawing and making banana bread, but I still think you could use 1/2-3/4 cups milk. thanks; it was great. (Even my picky/unhealthy brother who automatically says everything is "okay" if he hears it's vegan loved it.)

Peel the banana put it in a plastic bag or put plastic wrap around it then put it in the freezer....

Its a huge pain in the arse to get the peeling off otherwise

This is amazingly delicious! My three year old loves it and it is really easy for him to help make it. This will definitely be made again ;D ;D

This is probably my favorite smoothie ever.  The combination of bananas and dates is divine.  I could drink this every day!
