Crispy Garlic Chips

What you need:

8 medium to large cloves garlic
1/4 teaspoon olive oil
salt, to taste

What you do:

1. Slice peeled garlic cloves very thin, less than 1/16 inch, onto a rimmed flat plate.
2. Drizzle olive oil onto the slices to coat and sprinkle with salt. Toss slices around the plate to distribute oil and salt evenly, then spread them out so they touch each other as little as possible.
3. Microwave until fried to a golden color. Microwave on a power setting of 4 ( out of 10 ) for 3 minutes for a nice gradual toasting. Adjust time in small increments as needed to achieve the even golden color. Avoid using higher power settings to prevent too rapid frying and burned chips.
4. When done, push the chips out of the oil onto the rim of the plate and let cool until crispy, about 5 minutes.
Uses:- Add to any recipe calling for garlic, e.g. these add crisp flavor bursts to garlic mashed potatoes. Flavor is more intense than oven-roasted garlic.- Garnish / topping for salads, soups, etc.- Delicious all by themselves as well.
Don't discard the oil, it is very flavorful so use as additional garlic flavoring or just sop up with bread and enjoy.
