Apple and Raisin Granola

What you need:

2 cups quick oats
1/4 cup sunflower seeds
1/3 cup peanuts
1/4 cup shredded coconut (optional)
1/2 cup raisins
1/3 cup carob chips (optional)
2 apples, sliced into small pieces
1/2 cup maple syrup
1/2 cup water or oil (whichever you prefer)
2 teaspoon cinnamon
1 teaspoon vanilla (optional)

What you do:

Preheat oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit.
In a bowl, combine the oats, sunflower seeds, peanuts, shredded coconut, apples and cinnamon. Once thoroughly mixed, add the maple syrup, water/oil (when water is used, the granola is more dry and clumpy) and vanilla. Do NOT put in the raisins or carob chips yet, because the raisins tend to burn in the over, and the chips will melt and burn.
Spread the mixture onto a baking pan, and put it in the over for 30 minutes, stirring every 15 minutes. Once the 30 minutes are up, take the mixture out, and allow it to cool for ten minutes before adding the raisins and carob chips. Eat as cereal, or on its own!
