2 cups split peas
6 1/2 cups water
1 bay leaf
1/2 stalk celery, chopped, optional
1/4 cup soy sauce
1 tablespoon black pepper
1. Boil split peas in water with whole bay leaf for 35-45 minutes. After allowing to cool, pour peas and water into blender.
2. Put celery (if using), soy sauce, and pepper into blender. Blend on low for 5 seconds then on medium for 10 seconds and 5 seconds on low again.
3. Serve immediatly, or chill 3 hours for best results.
Well served with whole grain vegan bread and/or rice.
