1 cup whole wheat pastry flour
3/4 cup natural sugar
1/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
2 teaspoons baking powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 cup nondairy milk (I use soy)
1/4 cup unsweetened applesauce
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
3/4 cup brown sugar
1/4 cup cocoa powder
3/4 cup hot water
1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Grease 8x8" pan. Mx whole wheat pastry flour, 3/4 cup natural sugar, 1/4 cup cocoa, baking powder, and salt.
2. Add milk, applesauce, and vanilla. Mix well. Spoon the batter into prepared pan.
3. Mix the remaining cocoa, brown sugar, and hot water in a bowl. Stir it around to mix it.
4. Pour that over the brownie batter. Bake for 40 minutes.
