1 cup non dairy topping (liquid, not whipped, not coffee whitener)
1 cup plain soy milk
2 cups water
1 teaspoon dried minced onion
1 teaspoon dried sage
1 teaspoon paprika
salt and pepper to taste
1 cup celery, mushrooms, or other favorite veggie
4 tablespoons 807]cornstarch
6 tablespoons water
This is a base for making a 'cream of' soup. You can add your favorite vegetables to make 'cream of mushroom' etc, or use it in a chowder. Sort of fattening but worth it!!
Combine all ingredients EXCEPT corn starch and 6 tablespoon of water in large pot. Bring to a boil, reduce heat, and simmer until vegetables are tender, about 10 minutes.
Mix the cornstarch with 6 tablespoons water, and slowly add to the soup, stirring constantly. Let bubble until desired consistency is reached.
I serve this with white rice and a veggie chicken patty! Voila! You now have vegan chicken fried steak! Enjoy! :)
SO HOW'D IT GO?
do it! so many things can be done with this
Thanks VeggieRivka! :)
I think I may fix this tonight! Mmmmm....veggie chicken fried steak!
With baked potato and salad...that's a true Texas meal!
the liquid topping is something you would use for desserts. If you live in an area where there are lots of orthodox Jews, go to a kosher market and you'll find it. Otherwise, any other kind of non dairy sweetened (not vanilla) dessert topping will work, or you could add a little sugar to the silk half and half. :)
This recipe sounds good except I'm not sure what "non-dairy topping" is. Would Silk soy creamer qualify or is that a coffee whitener?
I wondered that too...maybe kind of like a Soy half and half like the creamer you mentioned...recipe sounds great!
