It was pretty, and sugary... but not great.

I bet this would be good with a splash of soda (carbonated/sparkling) water.

Funny you mention that. I clicked on this recipe, read it and thought, "hmmmm, they forgot the booze".  Huh

Seriously. Whenever I go camping, I make an Adult Watermelon by injecting it with booze. This can be fun but some pieces have no vodka and others will feel like you've just taken two shots when you bite into a piece. At any rate, this is a great starter recipe. I probably wouldn't add too much sugar. The sparkling water idea is a fantastic idea (maybe a grapefruit sparkler or something).

Maybe you could add soda water and Bacardi limon and make a watermelon mojito. Cheesy

Here's what I'd do - same drink, replace water with carbonated water or ginger ale and a add bit of orange or mango juice if you use club soda/carbonated water. Then about half a cup of vodka depending on the amount made - for single portion, maybe like 1/3 a cup. Depends on how toasted you want to get. I like the presentation.
