Eeek, I found it to be pretty gross.  I've made another recipe before and that too was gross.  I think raw hummus just isn't working out but I'm trying to eat more raw so this sucks Sad

The first time I did raw hummus I thought I would gag... Until I saw another recipe... Try this..
Boil water.. Remove it from the stove... Put the sprouted garbanzo's in the water for just about 5 minutes then rinse...
I don't know what it does to the beans but it made the world of difference Grin

I found a recipe that was close to this, only it used soaked cashes instead of sprouted garbanzos and it was incredible.  It's worth a try.  Just soak soak the cashews for a couple of hours, then just replace the garbanzos  in this with the cashews (same ratios)

Hope you like it!   Cheesy

i don't know if soaking the sprouts in suuper hot water would keep them raw since it would kill the "living" aspect of the sprouts.

i didn't like sprouted beans, in general. i think the nut idea is good! or even trying a sprouted grain like quinoa for a different flavor

i haven't tried this recipe, i'm just responding to everyone else's.

i eat at this vegan restaurant in seattle called "chaco cannon cafe".
they have raw hummus that is made with sunflower seeds.  it is absolutely delicious!
my wife doesn't like hummus and she actually liked it.  =o)   Smitten

i cannot find a recipe for something similar anywhere online... but maybe it's
about the same as any raw hummus recipe but with soaked sunflower seeds?

so maybe those of you who haven't liked raw hummus in the past should try that idea?

so, I've been wanting to make raw hummus for a while now.. and today was the day!

I am so happy with how it turned out.. I did what the previous reviewer said and soaked the beans (sprouted for 3 days) in boiled water for about 5 minutes.. I found some other raw hummus recipes that said to do the same thing.. that is the crucial step in making it edible and not totally disgusting..

it may not be 100% raw, but the beans are way closer to raw than ones that are canned or boiled for 2 hours..

also, there is another raw hummus recipe on vegweb that uses zucchini instead of chickpeas.. i basically combined the two.. i made this recipe and added a zucchini.. what i did was make a 1.5 recipe but kept the chickpeas the same amount and used the zucchini to make up the difference... it's so good! i'm never making "normal" hummus again..

also, since it was pretty garlicy, I added in a teaspoon of chopped parsley to counteract it.. oh and i added a teaspoon of salt.. cuz it was really bland without it..

thanks for my new hummus recipe!
