30-Minute Easy PizzaIngredients (use vegan versions): 3 3/4 cup flour approx.
1 pkg yeast
1 1/2 cup lukewarm water
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 tablespoon sugar
1-3 tablespoon olive oil
topping: tomato sauce, oregano, garlic powder, mushrooms, olives, green peppers, onions
vegan soy cheese
anything else you like
Directions:This is an easy way to make a home-baked pizza in a short time. Dissolve the yeast in the lukewarm water with the vegan sugar and let stand for 5 minutes. Mix in the oil, salt, and 1 cup of flour. Add the rest of the flour a cup at a time until it becomes too hard to stir with a wooden spoon. Turn out onto a floured counter and knead for 8-10 minutes, until its smooth and elastic. Have your oven preheating at 375 while you're kneading the dough (I have my pizza stone in the oven warming up). Let the dough rest for a few minutes while preparing the green peppers, olives, mushrooms, onions, etc. When you have all the ingredients ready, roll the dough out into a large circle and place on the stone or baking sheet--sprinkle cornmeal on it first--and spread the tomato sauce evenly over the dough. I then add my seasonings (I even like a touch of lemon pepper). Follow this with the olives, mushrooms, and onions, green peppers and whatever else you like. Top with the soy cheese. On the baking stone, it usually takes only about 15 minutes or bake until the cheese browns slightly. My husband likes a thinner crust so sometimes I will make two smaller pies instead of one large one.

Dont you need to let the dough rise?

if you don't let the dough rise the crust is going to be so thin. thanks, jessica

Could someone suggest a soy cheese that doesn't have any milk products? I am having some trouble finding any. Thanks!

I let the dough rise. It came out nice but I only would have used half of the dough because it was too thick. I didn't use any vegan cheese either just lots of veggies.

Instead of bothering with soy cheese, I just throw a good deal of nutritional yeast flakes on the pizza. My brother (a meat and dairy eater) always loves it!

revue abstract--For vegan cheese, I suggest Follow Your Heart Vegan Gourment Cheese Alternative. This is the same company that makes Veganaise, a great vegan mayonnaise alternative. The cheeses come in monterey jack, cheddar, nacho, and mozzarella. These cheeses melt and taste great. If you use the cheese inside something, it melts no problem. If you top a pizza with it, I recommend tossing it under the broiler for the last minute or so to get the top nice and bubbly. I found this cheese on the internet. I asked my local health food store to stock it, and now they do--everyone loves it! The packaging lists 2 websites that can maybe provide you with some helpful information--www.followyourheart.com and
www.imEarthKind.com. Good luck!!

i recently sprang for some Vegan Rella brand mozzarella flavored fake cheese and i think its great. a little expensive (at least i think so), but it actually melts WITHOUT casein.

I made vegan pizza and used soy cheese that was called Veggie Shreds in mozzarella flavor. It comes in a green bag and it usually runs $2.99/bag. It melts just like regular cheese and tastes awesome.

Be careful with the veggie shreds. If they are the ones I'm thinking of, they contain casein which is a milk derivative. Tofutti also makes a good vegan cheese.

Nascent, one package of yeast = 2 1/4 teaspoons (1/4 ounce).

I let the dough rise for 45 mins, and it turned out great! Thanks for this recipe. Melida4803- Veggie Shreds are not vegan!
