This is wonderful bread. My husband begs me to make it every weekend & all my co-workers have asked for the recipe. Thanks for sharing.

can you use anything in place of the sugar? If so what and how much? Thanks, Cindi

Great recipe. I reduced the sugar called for by one third and mixed white and whole wheat pastry flour half and half, and it still came out very tasty.

I reduced the sugar to 3/4 cup, doubled the amount of orange peel, and used whole wheat flour instead. The bread was done in 45 minutes and the flavor was excellent.

This seemed too damp- I probably didn't cook long enough though, it needed extra time. Not too bad.

This recipe is a favorite, even with my omnivorous family. I have cooked this for Christmas and Thanksgiving and I always get compliments.

I'm one of those people who look at everyones comments before trying any recipe to see if it is worth it - so for all those who haven't tried this yet: this is definetely worth a try! I modified it a little by making this as muffins and drizzling a little powdered sugar/orange juice glaze on top - excellent recipe! I also followed anothers advice and added twice the orange peel - that gives it great flavor.

This seemed way too wet. I liked the taste very much, but something needs modifying so that it is more like bread and less of the consistency of fruit cake...more flour? Perhaps I'm missing something...

This is fantastic bread, absolutely delicious. Its a bit sweet (due to the amount of sugar), but you need that to counteract the tartness of the fresh cranberries. I recommend chopping up the cranberries roughly beforehand, rather than adding them whole. I will definitely be making this to give as a gift for the holidays.

Yum! I omitted the oil and added in 2TB applesauce and 2TB ground flax seed to replace it. My husband and I both loved this bread!

This bread was wonderful. I used 1 cup whole wheat flour and 1 cup whole wheat pastry flour. I cut down the sugar to 3/4 cup, added 1/2 cup soy milk at the end, and substituted 1/2 cup of apple sauce instead of the hot water/oil mixture. The cranberries & orange flavor combination really worked well & the walnuts added that extra oompf!

I'm just wondering if anyone knows the measurement for using spelt flour instead of wheat.
