I can't believe its not opium!

Ingredients (use vegan versions):

4 ripe peaches, peeled and sliced thickly
4 kiwi fuit, peeled and sliced thickly
    3 bananas, peeled and sliced
1 1/2 cup fresh ripe strawberries, sliced
14 oz. can pineapple & juice
    1/2 cup whole clean blueberries
    3 tablespoon demerara vegan sugar
    1/4 cup poppy seed
    1 teaspoon vanilla

Directions:

Combine all ingredients in a large bowl with a tight fitting lid.  Refrigerate for a couple of hours to a couple of days. Turn over a few times, gently to allow juices to meld.  Serve as is or spooned over sweetened tofu dessert (or something similar.)

Serves: 8

Preparation time: 20 min.

You deserve a cool carrot for this recipe just for the title! A yummy way to eat fruit (which is a chore for me) I would serve it with vanilla yogurt as a topping over pancakes!

What an excellent dish!  I couldnt find fresh peaches, so I used oranges instead, I also used fresh pinapple instead of canned.  Finally I was only able to chill this for an hour, but I loved it.  I will definitely be taking this to more potlucks.

If you can't find fresh peaches, there are some great brands of frozen ones.

there's a brand of margerine called i can't believe its not butter!  apparantly its supposed to taste really realistic because it has just a drop of butter in it.  poppyseeds have just enough of the right chemical to cause you to fail a test for opium use, but they aren't actual sources of opium.  hence: i can't believe its not opium!  possibly its addictive, as well.  : )

This is absolutely delicious and perfect for having with chocolate cake or vegan ice cream.  Makes a dessert taste even more decadent.  I took a batch of this to my parent's house and was told under no circumstances would I be leaving with the rest.

I do find the amount of poppy seeds a bit too much and only use a tablespoon or two.
