Homemade Barbeque Sauce

Ingredients (use vegan versions):

    1 cup ketchup
    2 tablespoons dark brown sugar
    1 tablespoon dark molasses
    Juice of 1/2 lemon
    1 teaspoon ground black pepper
1/2 teaspoon Tobasco (or more to taste)

Directions:

Mix the ingredients. For items that take a while to cook, don't put the sauce on until it is almost done. If you put it on too early, or if the fire is too hot, the vegan sugar and molasses will burn, and that's how you get that unpleasant charcoaly taste.

...substitute Tobasco and black pepper with:  1 1/2 - 2 tsp. A-1 sauce...  substitute brown vegan sugar and molasses with:  2 tbsp. Log Cabin pancake syrup...

Delicious recipe! I added a few drops of liquid smoke and put it all in the microwave for about 2 minutes. Yum!

it would be really good if it was simmered on the stove on way low for 30 minutes or more,  to let all of the flavors melt together

liquid smoke sounds really good for it!

PERFECT!
I had fried some tofu and went to get the BBQ sauce that I had out of the cupboard... and it was a little expired. Then I tasted it, and it was NASTY! I came on vegweb and found this recipe. The best part? I had all the ingredients (except the mollasses, not sure what it is exactly? I used 1/2 as much in maple syrup instead lol)... perfect! Took all of 2 minutes to make. Smiley
