Applesauce Oatmeal Drops

Ingredients (use vegan versions):

    1/4 cup brown sugar
    1/4 cup white sugar
    3/4 cup natural unsweetened applesauce
1 cup sifted all purpose flour
    1 teaspoon baking powder
    1/2 teaspoon salt
    1 cup rolled oats
    1/2 cup seedless raisins

Directions:

Last night I made the best cookies with a minimal amount of fat.  No added fat, just whatever naturally occurs in oatmeal.  So here it goes....

Mix vegan sugars and add applesauce.  Sift together dry ingredients and stir in.  Add oats and raisins.  Drop by spoonfuls onto lightly greased cookie sheet. Bake at 375 degrees about 10 minutes.

Note:  I left out the raisins because I don't care for them. Also, I added 1/2 tsp of cinnamon.  The next time I make these I may cut back on the vegan sugar because they are rather sweet.  These cookies were nice and fluffy (for a fat-less cookie) and remind me of muffins.  These are so quick and easy to make, I just love them!  I hope everyone enjoys them.

I thought these cookies were very good, although I didn't need to keep them in the oven nearly as long as recommended.  Thanks for a great recipe!

These cookies were easy to make and very tasty...They were my first vegan cookies, and they were a success!!!  I put walnuts in them and it worked for me..thanks for the healthy yummy recipe!

I added half raisins, have dried cranberries, and a few more oats than they suggested.  Also I used Sucanat and brown rice syrup powder, instead of white and brown sugar, and they were pretty yummy.  Not what I expected, but like a perfectly sweet-enough answer to my sweet tooth.  Almost like chewy granola bars.

These were ok, very different taste. But I liked them... thank you Smiley

Tasty, fast, low fat, cheap, and directly into my recipe book. Thank you!  Heres a fun variation: The only applesauce I had was apple/wild berry mix, so mine were pink. This inspired me. I also had a few cherries in the fridge, so tried adding half a cherry to the top of a few and sprinkled with a tad more sugar. Good basic cookie turns fancy! Just imagine using dried cherries instead of rasins. Yum!

Delicious!  These came out really well.  It's great to find a healthy cookie recipe.  I substituted evaporated cane juice sugar for the white sugar, and added 1/4 tsp of cinnamon and a 1/2 tsp of vanilla.  Next time I think I'd try adding more oats and I'd be more generous with the cinnamon and maybe some other spices.  This would be good with chopped dried fruit too. these are spectacular!  I put in at least a cup, maybe a cup and a half of raisins, plus 3/4 of a cup of chocolate chips that were left over from something.  they're so soft and sweet, kind of pillowy in the middle, but still cookie-ish - this will be a regular recipe for me, I can tell.

This recipe was fairly good, but way too salty for a cookie.  I will drop the salt down to 1/4 tsp next time.

These were yummy and super simple to make--gotta respect a recipe that enables instant gratification!  I used dried cranberries instead of raisins and added cinnamon and nutmeg.  I also refrigerated the batter for about 15 mins before baking since it was kind of runny.  The end result was definitely more muffiny than cookie-ish which, in my opinion, is a great excuse to eat them for breakfast ^_^

these turned out really good!! i added vanilla and cinnamon like some people have mentioned, and also added some pecans.  they do remind me of a chewy granola bar type cookie. i've been spreading a little bit of peanut or almond butter on them and it is ssooooooooo good...i think next time i will maybe just try adding peanut or almond butter to the recipe. thanks for the recipe i will definitely make again!!

When I have made these, the cookies always turn out well with a very nice chewy texture. I use a little bit less salt than suggested, and I add vanilla, cinnamon, and nutmeg. They tend to come out just a little bit dry, so I serve them with the leftover applesauce for dipping.

With this cookie, it becomes obvious that, calorically speaking, you get what you pay for. These cookies were extremely chewy and hard to chew, and not very cookie like at all. If you're looking for a healthy 'cookie', go with this, but just don't bring it to your next holiday bash. I highly doubt it will be lauded at all.

i just made these... YUMMERS! i dont quite know how to describe them.. definately not dense, somewhat chewy... very good in any case. the batter is pretty nice too.

i used 1/4 tsp salt
Nature's Path instant oatmeal (apparently, we ran out of the real stuff)
and sugar from the instant oatmeal (i usually sift it out and save it because its sweet enough as is)

so, yah, i basically just ate 1/2 the batch. i think theyd be good for kids too. healthy and tasty. make em.

I thought these were very good. I actually used some homemade applesauce I had made the day before. The applesauce was a little dense so I had to use some soymilk to get it to a good consistency. I actually completely omited the sugar all together and they were the perfect amount of sweetness. I have a 2year old so I am always trying to find healthy cookie recipes. This has been my favorite so far. I should probally just always have these on hand!
Thanks so much for such a great simple recipe!!!

These were not bad. I substituted chocolate chips for the raisins as I was seriously craving chocolate! They came out a lot softer than I expected, kind of muffin-like. I didn't have enough apple sauce so I added mashed banana, maybe that's what caused them the be so soft. In any case, they are good for low fat snacking. Thanks!

geez, i accidentally used one teaspoon of baking soda instead of powder, but these came out well regardless. i ate a fresh one and they reminded me strongly of the old oatmeal raisin cookies i used to eat.. but with no extra added fat! at first i was skeptical when i mixed the oats in: the dough didnt look like it would even out, but it did. i used 1/2 cup of brown sugar because i dont have white sugar, whole wheat flour, and baking soda instead of powder. i baked for about 18 minutes. these are easy and fun to make. estimated nutritional value with raisins..
