These were very yummy for me, nice and chewy, and crispy on the outside. I added a cup of chocolate chips, and only used one cup brown sugar. I also used a 1/4 cup oil and a 1/4 cup applesauce. So very good and so easy!  Wink

I've made these several times with a few variations and I love them.  1 1/2 cups of sugar seems like a lot...I always use just 1 cup.  I just made a batch using mashed pumpkin instead of the banana (probably 3/4 cup?) and I added raisins to half of it and it's probably my favorite so far.  But I'm in a pumpkin phase lately. Smiley
Btw, subbing applesauce for the oil works well but they won't flatten when you bake them.  Try half oil, half applesauce, or just flatten them with a spoon before baking.

these cookies definitely live up to its name! oh my gosh, they are incredible! i followed the recipe exactly, although subbing the banana for unsweetened applesauce and replaced the white sugar with (grinded) sugar in the raw. oh and i added chocolate chips, which are a must! i aldo prefer to make the cookies larger. i ended up with about 16 med-large sized cookies.

as for the texture, mine were very soft and moist in the middle, perfectly crunchy on the outside/bottom (maybe this was due to the raw sugar?) they also tend to fall appart easily so try to wait a bit for them to cool on the cookie sheet. either way, they were perfect and just the way i like my oatmeal cookies to taste like. also the cinnamon flavor was delicious and even though it does call for quite a bit of sugar, i enjoyed the sweetness. for those who do not like their cookies overly sweet, i would reduce the amount by a bit fyi.

and no one even had a clue they were vegan. (first time with vegan baking success!) and now this  recipe has finally won over my families tradtional toll house cookies that are always requested. thank you for the recipe!

just a question though,
did anyone have trouble with the cookies sticking to their cookie sheet? i had the hardest time scrapping them off even though i only baked them for 10 minutes (which was perfect)

Hail, Satan!  Smiley

I modified this recipe using what I had on hand:  1/4 cup raw sugar (I don't like very sweet cookies), applesauce instead of oil, two cups of oatmeal, 1/4 cup milled flaxseed, and half a cup of raisins.  Leaving out the oil made the batter very dry, so I added 3/4 cup of milk and about half a cup of water.  I tasted the batter, and wow.  These are going to be some good cookies!  Thanks for the inspiration.

These are delicious! I used 1/4 cup apple sauce instead of a banana because I ran out, but they were so good!
Nice job

these cookies are my favorite and have now become my ''go to'' recipe. yesterday i made them with chocolate chips, but tonight i added butterscotch chips (store brand, which i was very excited about) they are so amazing, they taste just like oatmeal scotchies! now that i have made them quite a few times i have made my own substituions which i find to work really well if anyone is interested.
-- 1/4 cup applesauce for the banana
-- 1/2 cup brown sugar, 1/2 cup unrefined
-- 2 tbsp canola oil
-- 4 tbsp water
-- only 2 cups oats (ive been using rolled, but i think i might switch to quick)
-- 1/2 cup extra add-in

really, these cookies are so versatile and are always gone within 24 hours.

These were really good! I added sunflower seeds, raisins, chocolate chips, and replaced the vanilla extract with coconut extract! I got 24 cookies.

YUM! I subbed in a bit of PB and extra mashed banana for the oil, and added some chopped fresh cranberries, but everything else was right on!! Very tasty cookie, and the texture was really nice-- crisp but not dry, held together nicely, and chewy.

These were fantastic. To avoid the overpowering taste of banana, I used 1/4 c of vanilla soy yogurt, they turned out delicious. And I added a lot of raisins. Yum.

this recipe is already in my 'keeper' list, it was simple, fast, made a ton of cookies, and everyone loved them.
I was a bit skeptical, after only just having enough liquid ingredient to mix the flour etc in to, as to how I was then going to mix in over two cups worth of oats... but somehow, it worked, and I even had to add a little more as the mix ended up really sticky!
Ended up with over 30 deliciously oaty cookies, might play around with adding seeds/fruit/extras next time, but it was super just as the recipe directed. Yum!

So delicious.  I was a little skeptical, but I was craving oatmeal cookies so much.  And these hit the spot.  I haven't told anyone the first batch is done yet, and I've just been stuffing them in my mouth.  So crispy on the outside and moist in the middle.  Almost perfect but raisins would make this divine.

I used 1/3 cup applesauce instead of banana, only 1/3 cup brown sugar and 1/3 cup raw sugar and only 2 cups of instant oats.  I'll reduce the sugar even more next time, and add raisins!  Thanks for the great recipe.

These are fantastic!

I have a curse on me, I can't bake anything.
These cookies were really easy and delish.
I also made a batch substituting regular sugar with blackstrap molasses
and added a pinch of nutmeg, like suggested above.
It rocks!
Thanks.  Smitten

great recipe!, the banana is fantastic...i added walnots and raisins, reduced the sugar amount and mixed it with maple syrup...super!

and oh..
also tried the applesauce in stead of oil thing.... but no way! it became a goowie wannabe cookie, not good!    the oil is essential in this...
