Chocolate Cheesecake Pie

Ingredients (use vegan versions):

    1 pkg. silken tofu
1 12 oz. package vegan chocolate chips
1 8 oz. tub vegan cream cheese
    3/4 cup sugar
    3 tablespoon maple syrup
1 vegan graham cracker pie crust

Directions:

In blender, blend tofu until smooth.  In medium bowl combine vegan sugar and cream cheese and 2 Tbs.  of the smoothed tofu, using electric mixer, beat until smooth.  Add cream cheese mixture to blender.  Blend again until smooth.

Melt chocolate chips in double boiler, or microwave, just get them melted. Add melted chips to blender, blend until chocolate is mixed, this may require some stirring. After chips and mixture are well blended, add maple syrup, blend for 30 seconds.

Pour mixture into pie crust until full, refrigerate until stiff.

Serves: 6

Preparation time: approx. 20 min.

this recipe is easy to make and tastes *really* good. its a good way to show someone that vegan food can be yummy.

yikes. this recipe calls for adding way too much chocolate chips. I was expecting a swirl type pie, not too sweet, and the mixture wound up being all chocolate and way too sweet! So I threw in some more tofu to neutralize it, but i had no more cream cheese. so all i need to do is get more cream cheese and add it in to the mixture to make it less chocolaty, b/c man, this stuff is out of control. and i really didn't get the whole maple syrup thing. i guess the chocolate overkill messed that one up too. if you are not into anything too sweet, do not use a whole 12 oz. package of chocolate chips for this recipe! baaaaaaaaaaaad moooove Sad also if you are using a regular pie crust, you only need half the ingredients (and about a third of the chocolate chips :|) as I actually have enough mixture for two pies. I had to freeze the rest. Ah well live and learn, folks!

Wow. I have made this pie quite a few times and it is absolutely decadent! Easy to make, superb consistency, very rich with lots of chocolate goodness. This year, my husband even requested it instead of a traditional birthday cake. My co-workers request it for our potlucks and everyone is shocked to learn that it is made with Tofu. TERRIFIC!!!!!

There was a guy who made this pie for a ThanksVegan potluck. It wasn't too sweet or anything. It was PERFECT. *drools*

Superb! I made this for thanksgiving 2005.  Was awesome on top of a  crushed Newman Os crust.  I will be making this again.  Rich, chocolatey goodness that everyone, even the meat eaters, moaned in ecstacy over.  Thank you for this great recipe!

so do you only use 2 tablespoons of the tofu? also it says to mix in the cream cheese twice. it sounds very good, but i am confused about the recipe Smiley

you blend the tofu and take 2 tb of it and mix it with the other stuff and then put it back with the tofu left in the blender. when i make this, i just toss everything into the blender cause i'm lazy...it all gets blended in the end, right?  Grin

Sub brown sugar, add vanilla extract, and add melted peanut butter on top before chilling. Wow.

Wow this is really good.  The consistency is perfect and creamy and it's so chocolately but not overly sweet.  I bought Soya Whipped Cream (which i think is new cause i had never seen it before) and topped it off with that.  sooo good!

I made this for my omni family, and sorry to say, they really didn't like it. Most of them tried a bite or two and wouldn't eat any more. I, on the other hand, enjoyed it. They said that it tasted nothing like Cheesecake, and that maybe if I hadn't of called it a cheesecake they wouldn't have been expecting to taste one thing and then tasting another. I used tofutti better than cream cheese, and I think maybe they aren't used to the taste? Or maybe it was the carob chips? I dunno, though, just be cautious about serving this one to omnis. I ended up eating the whole thing... not that i'm really complaining or anything.

i've had bad experiences with trying to give omnis carob in any baked goods. they all seem to despise it. i actually don't care for it too much either, but that's another story

This was good but did have a lot of sugar. I will cut the sugar down next time. I will use less chocolate next time and try to get it fluffier like another review suggested. My friends wanted the recipe so that's good.
