Why are these rated 4 stars? I have tried quite a few vegan chocolate chip cookie recipes and these are so easy and so delicious. Plus the recipe is really versatile. You could do just nuts or nuts and raisins in place of the chocolate chips. Add cocoa powder to make a chocolate cookie, etc. These are great and thank you for such a simple and delicious recipe. I gave these 5 stars!!!!!

I made these this afternoon and they are very good, but I'm afraid they will be hard as rocks tomorrow like the last batch of vegan chocolate chip cookies I made (not a recipe from this site.) I hope I'm wrong!

I did make some changes--subbed applesauce for half the oil, subbed whole wheat pastry flour for half of the white flour, added chopped walnuts to half the batch (hubby likes cookies with nuts, kids don't), and added an extra 1/8 of a cup of soy milk to the dough when I realized it was going to be too dry. I didn't flip them, though I tried at the 5 minute marker and as such, I have NO idea how anyone could successfully flip them.It would have torn them apart had I kept trying.

As of right now they are perfectly chewy and delicious.  Smiley Thanks for the yummy recipe!

Day 2 and they are still soft and chewy. These are officially my new favorite chocolate chip cookie recipe. Smiley

Infinitely impressed with these cookies...I had one right out of the oven (while it was still crumbly and warm) over some Soy Delicious Neopolitan ice cream. That was amazing. Then I tried a cookie after the cooling period. I am blown away and have come to grips with the fact that I may gain approximately 500 pounds because of how easy and delicious this recipe is.  Thumbs Up Thumbs Up

Okay, maybe this is just me but I made these exactly as directed in the recipe and they were the absolute worst cookies I've ever had. I thought I was doing something wrong when the dough was really crumbly and had to mold it into balls on the cookie sheet in order for them to stay together. However I double and triple checked the recipe and everything was correct. The dough tasted like nothing with chocolate chips. After baking, the cookies tasted like really really really really bland sugar cookies with chocolate chips. I was kinda sad about this because I made them with a non-vegan friend and I hope she doesn't think that all vegan cookies are bad! ah well...
I had the same reaction with these cookies.  Seeing all the good reviews probably built my hopes up a bit too much.  They tasted bland unless I had a bite with some chocolate.  They dough was extremely crumbly and wouldn't mold into anything.  So, I added more and more moisture until I could form them into something.  I think if I tweek the recipe a bit, maybe they'll be better.  Perhaps I messed something up.  Or maybe it's because I'm used to the regular recipe on the back of a Nestle chocolate chips bag (I'm not vegan, just vegetarian).

some of the photos look like soft fluffy cookies.  mine are not that pretty.  my dough was crumbly and i used my hand to form them into balls then i flattened them.  they are pretty good but i'm not raving.  i used pastry flour, maybe that was wrong?  i also didn't have any vanilla so maybe that makes a big difference.   Undecided

After all the reviews, I was really excited to try this recipe. But mine didn't turn out well at all. Sad It's my own fault; I added too many chocolate chips. I've never made chocolate chip cookies before, so I didn't know any better. Also, I was afraid of adding too much flour and ended up not adding enough. Now I have some strange cookie-fudge hybrid things. I've put them in the fridge to firm up, but it's not looking good. Even worse, I made these to thank my friends for doing me a favor. I guess that teaches me to risk new recipes when the stakes are high. Sad

I'm just feeling kind of sorry for myself here. I've been on vegweb.com for ages and seen lots of lovely recipes, so it's really a pity that my first post is a complaint. But there we are. I have yucky cookies, and I'm not happy. Sad

Roll Eyes I followed the recipe and made sure to take them out of the oven when they looked softer than I wanted. They were very tasty. I served them to 3 people, 2 of them are meat-eaters. They all loved them and I will passing out the recipe the next time I make them. I like how the recipe is very detailed and easy to follow, also cooking time is very short. I think the most important part to not messing these up is to not cook them too long. Keep in mind, they will firm up when cooling. Thank you for the recipe.  Laugh

These turned out great for me. Second time I've made them and I never have any trouble. The dough is crumbly but the way to get around that is to mould it with your hands so it warms up. Time to get myself a cup of tea and tuck in!

Delicious!  Cheesy I made these and brought them to my class; everyone said they were great... and then I told them they were vegan Smiley Everyone was really surprised (one person changed their mind and said they actually weren't good anymore.... but he's a booface).

Thanks so much! These were great! Definitely a stable recipe.
