Frozen Grape Treats

Ingredients (use vegan versions):

grapes (preferably red but green will work too)

Directions:

Pull grapes off stem, put in a plastic bag and freeze until solid.  Probably about 1 or 2 hours. Very easy! Its like little popsicles, portable too, but you probably already know this recipe. huh?

these are wonderful for diets !!!

I never thought of freezing grapes before! I just bought a bunch of not-so-great grapes, and couldnt eat them, but I didn't want to throw them in the compost. I remembered this recipe, and froze them. Now they are SO good!

Kids love frozen grapes, too, especially while teething.  Just monitor to avoid choking Sad

...and cut them in half before freezing to reduce the risk of choking.

I personally think that green grapes are better frozen than red ones.

If you usually add ice to your smoothies, use frozen grapes instead.  Even if the rest of your fruit isn't frozen, the grapes will give it a great slushy, sorbet-y consistency.

Great idea with the smoothies, but let them thaw a wee bit if you have sensitive teeth like me...

I used to do this a lot.

One thing I did wrong once though was that I put four big bags of grapes in a small freezer and they melted everything else. So just a bag at a time Smiley

I had some really sweet red grapes on hand. This was a perfect treatment for them.  Yum. This will definitely be on my summer snackin list.

Now that scorching weather is here, I have been eating frozen grapes.  They really hit the spot!  I accidentally got black grapes the first time and, though good, were a bit more bitter than I wanted so I got red grapes and they are surprisingly sweet when frozen.  Yummy!  My current batch of red grapes has a few less sweet ones in the bunch(es) but they're still good, especially when it's 110 degrees outside like this week. Extra Cool  Thanks for this idea!

Why frozen, doesn't it somehow enhance the flavour or something? Why not just eat them fresh?

Yes, freezing the grapes will make them sweeter. That is why icewine has such intense flavour.

I used to freeze red grapes during college.  Yum!

If you freeze them and then let them thaw a little bit, they're sherbet-ish.  It's like a frozen desert treat.
