this is the best pie crust! it tastes better than the store bought ones, and even better than the ones that use butter, lard, etc!! i used it to make my butternut pie, and it came out fabulous! in fact, i liked the crust better than the pie filling itself.

Can I freeze this (before or after filling)?

Loved this recipe... used whole wheat flour instead of regular flour, but otherwise followed the directions...

Couldn't believe how easy it was to prepare... tip - if you sandwich the dough between aluminum foil sheets, you can roll it smooth so easily its silly... dough is VERY forgiving...

Can't say enough good things... cooks up great each time, tastes even better.  Oh!  I've also added salt to recipe sometimes, less than a teaspoon, but its not necessary.

Worked great! I cooked it on 350 for the last 15 mins to brown the top more. This is the easiest pie crust recipe I've ever used!

This is sooooooooooooooo good. TRY IT TRY IT TRY IT!!!  Grin I make it a little different. Instead of 1/3 cup of water, i use 2 tablespoons of peanut butter (melted or softened), 1/2 tablespoon of cinnomin (sp?), and 1 tablespoon of vanilla (if i'm out, i use water.) it smells bangin when you take it out of the oven... yay

I used this recipe for a fresh strawberry pie and was really disappointed!!!!  The crust, itself, wasn't that bad, but the flavor DID NOT go well with the sweetness of the berries!!!  Maybe it would be better for a pot pie or something.  Next time i'll try it with a different kind of oil.

for a pie that's going to be sweet, try the suggestion that I posted before or instead of olive oil, replace it with corn oil with a tablespooon of sugar.

can't beat it for the simplicity of it.  i halved it for a quiche and used ww flour.  it was pretty oily and after i got it into the pie pan i used a paper towel to blot a little of the excess oil off the top of the dough before i prebaked it.  i'd definitely use it again over running out to buy one with a million preservatives.  thanks!

I made this last night for Sonya's Mushroom Pot Pie. It was the perfect crust for it! I was nervous picking a pie crust off the site because most people like very light flaky crusts but I like the ones that are softer and doughier with a little bit of flake. This crust was all that and delicious, even though it was so simple! I upped the recipe a bit (eyeballing it) because I like to have a thicker crust in pot pies to soak up all the good tastes, and sprinkled salt on after a rolled both pieces out. Before I put it in the oven I brushed melted EB on it, but it didn't really help it to brown much. Oh well. I also cooked it at 350 for half an hour because I didn't want to wait so long  Cool

It was a bit messy to roll out but the end result was worth it completely. Now if I cook this the way I was supposed to and up the temp at the end, will it REALLY help it brown? I've never gotten a vegan pie crust to brown.

i don't see why not.. it's definitely more a crust for a savory dish over a sweet, fruit type one.

I used this for the Thanksgiving pecan pie.  Instead of olive oil, I used veggie oil with a T of sugar (as DRA88 suggested) and 1/2 whole wheat flour.   My non-veg family thought it was great.

Ended up with enough dough for two pies, so I froze half of it and used it later for a pot pie.  It froze fine, but was a bit more "crumbly" upon thawing...

I thought this worked pretty well for the 'Spaghetti pie' recipe. I used whole wheat pastry flour and chilled the dough before rolling it out. Mine definitely doesn't look perfect, but it tasted pretty good, and it was definitely easy to mix together. I baked my bottom crust first, added fillings, used a top crust, and baked. I'll keep this in mind for when I need a crust!

AWESOME MAN  Thumbs Up made it with quiche.

I agree though, probably not a good combination with a sweet pie.... probably better with dinner pies.
