Piping Hot Cocoa

Ingredients (use vegan versions):

    3/4 cup plain soy milk
    1/4 cup water
    2 tablespoon unsweetened cocoa
2 tablespoon sugar (Turbinado works well)
    1/8 teaspoon vanilla extract
    dash of cinnamon

Directions:

Heat soymilk and water in a small saucepan.  Add cocoa, sugar, and vanilla; stir until smooth.  Sprinkle with cinnamon and serve hot.

Serves: 1

Preparation time: 2 minutes

Wow, this was really easy and full of the rich chocolatey goodness that I've been missing since I went vegan.  Perfect for a cozy evening at home! I didn't modify the ingredients at all but I did change the order a little bit.  To make sure it was super smooth I melted the sugar with the cocoa and water in the pan before adding the soymilk and vanilla.  The only reason I'm giving it 4 stars is that I burned my tongue because it just smelled so good I couldnt wait to try it ^_^

Wow!  This is deeeelish and easy!  There is a little diner down the street that serves vegan hot cocoa, but its $4.50 a mug and doesn't compare to this!! MMM MM MMM

Sort of reminds me of Abuela's mexican hot chocolate from my pre-vegan days. Super good!

This was pretty good.
I made it all in the microwave and whisked every few minutes with gave it a nice froth on top (see photo)
Soy chocolate milk/hot chocolate always has this slightly gritty mouth feel to me and this one did but the ease it took to make and the rich taste made it less noticeable.

Looks and sounds great! My cheap version of hot chocolate is a mixture of carob chips, soy milk, and a little bit of water. A little bit of carob goes a long way too. But I bet this recipe is much richer than mine. WIll definitely try it sometime

MMM!!! This sure is good!  My vanilla poured quicker than I expected, so I probably ended up with about triple (at least) the amount... and I also added some peppermint oil.  Yum! Yum! Yum!

This was awesome. I used dark chocolate cocoa instead of the regular and it came out yummy. Warms you up on a chilly morning  Smiley

This was awesome!  I used rice milk instead of soy milk (not a soy milk fan at all!).  I think next time I'll use less cocoa... but over all it was very good!  Thanks for the recipe!

this made me throw up.

What kind of review is that?  Geez, if you didn't like the way the hot cocoa turned out could you at least be mature enough to articulate what the problem was instead of your reaction?

you're right, i should have said - i think i got sick because it seemed very thick to me - it was very good but next time i make it i will put more milk and less cocoa. i also forgot to add cinnamon. sorry

This was soo delicious! To make it not as rich, I used 1 tbsp of cocoa and 1 tbsp of raw sugar and 1/2 milk, 1/2 water. And it's SO rich and delicious and only 100 calories!! Grin

I tried this twice. Once with soy milk, once with rice milk. The soy milk version was better as it was creamier. Very good and easy recipe. Thanks!
