The Purists Lemonade

Ingredients (use vegan versions):

5 to 6 Lemons - right off the tree if possible
3 quarts of filtered water (or to taste depending upon how tart your lemons are)
3/4 cup - to taste Pure (Grade C) maple syrup

Directions:

Juice lemons and pour into a blender (strain pulp and seeds if that's your preference). Add 3/4 cup maple syrup and blend until well mixed (about 10 seconds, or so). Adjust sweetner to your liking and contiue blending process til you have it where you want it. Pour sweetened lemon juice into a one gallon container and gradually add water. Shake well and adjust water and sweetner to your liking.  Add a few lemon slices and chill or add ice. Great for parties.

For an added twist, toss a few strawberries into the blender during the first step. Heavenly!

Please forgive my the shoot from the hip style of this recipe. I usually make it without measuring anything. So, the big cue on this one is - Adjust to taste. Its simple, pure and delicious. Yum!

Makes: 3 qts. - 1 gal.

Preparation time: 20 min.

sounds wonderful!

I have made a very sim recipe myself, I used grade B maple (by laws, b and c have now been merged referred to as only B now, in the states) If you want to spice it up, add Cayenne Tincture/powder to it Lemons, Grade B maple, offer you one of the most nutrient rich combinations possible, Cayenne is great for many ailments... and if you are diabetic or hypoglycemic (or are concerned about the massive amounts of sweetness) You can use Black strap molasses instead. If your concerned about all that AND calories, you can use Lo Han nectar,  They all give you slightly different, but very yummy and good for you results.

This sounds almost like the "Master Cleanse" diet - I'm trying it right now as part of a cleanse & I love it (but you only make one glass at a time & use 1Tbl. syrup!!)

MMM this is yummy. So much better than "lemonade" made from powder.  Undecided

I wish I had a lemon tree, I use them enough!

This is definitely the highly effective 'Master Cleanser' Lemonade diet with a few extra suggestions. I love this diet. I do it every summer using fresh organic lemons and organic grade-B maple syrup. It's a detox, plus you can lose weight on it. If you don't want to lose weight, use more maple syrup. This diet provides lots of minerals (like silicon), vitamin C, and is powerfully hydrating. For more info, go to Amazon.com or Google the 'The Master Cleanser" by Stanley Burroughs. This is a must-read for anyone interested in fasting, flushing, detoxing, or just getting good nutrition, especially when on the road. Add some chia seeds for a real energy blast!! I've lived on chia-lemonade for up to 2 weeks with no hunger, and a surprising amount of energy.

Here's a new twist. Add chlorella to this lemonade, and make your own 'Chlorella Lemonade' to convert basic lemonade into a real superfood drink. Add 1-3 teaspoons of chlorella, and stir. It's great iced! What chlorella does is radically boost the nutritional power of the lemonade, and makes it far more energizing and detoxifying (e.g., chlorella is a heavy metal chelator). Also, for those who don't like the taste of chlorella, this is a great way to consume it because the maple syrup covers up the taste (or you can just use less chlorella). I get my chlorella and organic chia seeds from: www.integratedhealth.com.

Read more about the healing powers of chlorella: www.integratedhealth.com/featured-health-products/chlorella.htm

I hope this helps!

This IS very similar to the Master Cleanse lemonade minus the cayenne pepper. I tried it when my hubby did the MC awhile back  and I was hooked on this lemonade's flavor!  The maple syrup adds a nice deep taste twist instead of using refined sugar.  I sometimes still add a sprinkle of the cayenne whenever I want an extra kick. Cheesy

Sure you can  Smiley  The Grade A kind is just lighter and not as maple-y.  I've actually never seen Grade C!

I did the Master Cleanse and I drank about 4-6 glasses a day sans cayenne pepper. My bf drank 8 glasses a day but he is super active at work. Really drink when your hungry and drink LOTS of water, your body needs extra water when fasting. Be careful of the maple syrup though. I did 3 master cleanses a couple of yrs ago w/in 3 months (which was too soon) and I got a yeast infection which was a b**** to get rid of.

That's stupid, the book says to do it no more than once every 3 months. And no one wants to hear about your bodily issues on a FOOD SITE.
