Simple Raw Cinnamon Granola

Ingredients (use vegan versions):

    3 cups rolled oats
1 cup silvered almonds or nut of choice
1/2 teaspoon cinnamon, or more to taste
    1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
    1/2 cup maple syrup

Directions:

Its easiest to use one container.

Combine dry ingredients in a plastic container.  Add the syrup and mix well until everything has been moderately saturated with the liquid. Use more if necessary, but do not use too much. Your granola will turn into one big hunk.

Cover the container and let the mixture dry overnight in the refrigerator. You can eat it if still slightly damp, but it is better completely dry. Serve with almond milk (or soy milk, depending upon your level of raw food-ness).

See http://www.living-foods.com for more information on raw foodism.

Serves: 6-8

Preparation time: no more than ten minutes

This is so easy, and so tasty!  Thank you!

This is so wonderful!!!! I am trying to break my sugar addiction and this does the trick to curb my morning sugar craving. Thank you for sharing Smiley

This recipe looks wonderful, but its not going to kick your sugar addiction, Lailuu, since it uses maple syrup, which contains plenty of sugar.

I'm a terrible cook but this sounds really simple and yummy--like even I could make it right! Can't wait to try it.

this recipe was a perfect place to start from. I ended up needing to add about 1/4-1/2 cup more oats to soak up all the maple syrup but that wasn't a huge deal. I also added 1/4 cup chopped pecans, 1/4 cup chopped walnuts and 1/2 cup slivered almonds. I upped the spices as well to almost a tsp of cinnamon and about a 1/2 tsp nutmeg because I like my spices Smiley.
When I eat this (with soymilk because I'm not anywhere near 100% raw) I put fresh or frozen raspberries on top and it adds a delicious hint of fruity flavor.

This was super easy and simple, but I don't think any of my ingredients were actually raw!

Hint: mix the spices with the maple syrup before you add it to the oats and almonds.

technically, this isn't a raw recipe. rolled oats are steamed and not considered raw. but you could use raw oat grouts instead. i don't say that to be a brat, but noticed you posted a link about raw/living foods in your post. I think "uncooked" would be a better word choice.

my DR eats uncooked rolled oats every day. they are very good and this looks pretty tasty... i've had thinks like this in the past.

Thanks Baypuppy. I was wondering about oats being raw. I am trying to stay raw during the day. I might try the grouts instead.

groats? grout is the stuff between tiles, no? (sorry)
maple syrup is also heated extensively.
I've actually wondered about spices though--does anyone know if cinnamon is 'raw' or not?

Oat groats are whole oats. About spices, it depends on your source.
