Tofu French Toast

Ingredients (use vegan versions):

    1/2 lb. of soft tofu
1/4 cup of soy milk or rice milk
    teaspoon of vanilla
    teaspoon of cinnamon
    1/4 cup of water
    pat of soy margarine
4 slices cut into triangles of Whole wheat bread or specialty bread
    fresh berries
    1 banana
    maple syrup
    granola

Directions:

Mix tofu, soy or rice milk, vanilla, cinnammon, and water in a blender on liquify or highest level, until you get the consistancy of two beaten eggs. Dip pieces of vegan bread into mixture and place in a treated iron skillet (with margerine) until golden brown.  When all pieces are done, top of with fresh berries, banana, granola and maple syrup

Serves: 2-4.

Preparation time: 15 min..

This is a great recipe.  We serve it with Gimmie Lean sausage, sliced and fried in Pam.  I omit the cinnamon and spray my griddle with Pam and when turning the French toast I spray the griddle again.  Thanks for the great recipe!

Can this be used for pancakes by just pouring the mixture on a griddle?  Any suggestions for making pancakes?

Love this recipie!  I have always liked french toast, but since becoming a vegan, I haven't found a satisfactory equivalent to replace the eggs.  Thank you so much for posting this on the web!

I used 1 cup of sofu tofu, I don't know if that equals 1/2 lb or not...  These tasted great. No matter how much oil I put in my cast iron frying pan they stuck something horrible though.  Thanks for the recipe!

These were SO good.. I used Ezekiel bread cut into thirds to make French Toast Sticks.. also I didn't have soymilk, so I used coconut milk and I used extra-firm tofu cuz when it is blended up it works just the same Wink.. I didn't have fresh fruit or granola or maple syrup, so I just melted some margarine with some Boysenberry syrup for dipping.. Thanks for the yummy recipe!

OOOOOOOOOOOOOOHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH MY GOODNESS! This is the best recipe ive found on VegWeb to date! Maple syrup is a must! We added a bit of agave to the mix as well....We took the suggestion to use Ezekiel bread and made French Toast Sticks.

I cannot even express how DELICICIOUS this was.  2Funny
