Baked Beans

    3 cups navy beans, cooked
    1 onion
    1/4 cup molasses
    1 tablespoon prepared mustard
1 or 2 tablespoon soy sauce
    2 tablespoon rum

Chop the onion and saute until soft.  Combine with all other ingredients, including a little of the water from cooking the beans, and bake covered at 350 degrees for 45 minutes to 1 hour.  Very simple, very good, a bit on the sweet side.

This is good.  A terrific variation is to add BBQ sauce (equal to the amt of molasses).  And I think the best variation of all for baked beans is to add 1 or 2 tablespoons of grated fresh ginger.  The kind all grated in the little jar (like the chopped garlic) works just fine.

I agree with the ginger: I like to bake mine with gindersnaps on top!

normally, amount noun, adjective  means that the measuring takes place before the adjective applies  (ie, 3 cups raw beans are then cooked) as opposed to amount adjective noun which tends to mean you measure after.  but because there isn't much sauce, im going to assume you mean that it should be 3 cups after its cooked.  Beans can like, triple in size when you cook them (I don't yet know what raw navy beans do since I haven't prepared them from raw before.) so whether its 3 cups before or after seems important.

Great Recipe! I added a small can of crushed pineapple to it, juice included. My grandmother always made this version of baked beans and called it "Polynesian" Baked Beans. She also added a lot of bacon to it, which I do not miss!
