Taco Treats

Ingredients (use vegan versions):

one tube of Gimme Lean! original flavor (or your favorite textured protein) (it has to be
    mushy and moldable)
    1 small onion, minced
a pinch or more(depending on preference) of the following:
    garlic salt or powder
    basil
    oregano
    chili powder
    black pepper
    3 tablespoon salsa of preference
1 package of organic corn totillas
    enough canola oil for frying

Directions:

Crunchy, not particularly healthy, but darn good!  Place the Gimme Lean (or whatever you have), onion, spices, and salsa in a large bowl and squash and mash them together until mixed well. Press a small amount of the filling onto one side of a corn tortilla and repeat until you run out of mixture.

In a large skillet, heat the canola oil until hot. Slide a taco into the oil and when the tortilla is softened fold it over the filling to make a taco shape. Fry until desired crispiness. Repeat until they're all fried.

Serve with homemade guacamole and anything else you like with a taco. These are delicious!!! they are also good for snacks every once in a while. I make them for a special treat. Great cold the next day.

Nutrition information? Pretty fattening with a side of delicious Smiley  Well, I never said they were good for you--that's why I call em Treat Tacos. Enjoy if you dare...

Serves: makes a lot of tacos

Preparation time: not too long

These are excellent! They reminded me of Jack-in-the-Box tacos.....a weakness of mine. Now I don't have to go without! Next time I make them I'm going to add a slice of vegan cheese, some shredded lettuce, and some hot sauce so they'll be just like my favorite fast food from my carnivore days - greasy and tasty! And I never said I was vegan for health reasons, so I didn't feel the least bit guilty eating these. Well, maybe a little! Grin
