Nutritional Yeast Sauce

Ingredients (use vegan versions):

    1/2 cup flour
    soya magarine
    1 1/2 cups water
    spices
    soy sauce
    1/2 cup nutritional yeast

Directions:

melt one stick of soy margarine add 1/2 cup flour, stiring rapidly.. .  add 1 1/2 cups water, still stiring rapidly...  add some soy sauce, whatever spices you please (chille powder, paprika, garlic, taragon, etc...)

when it thickens, turn off the flame.. add 1/2 cup nutritional yeast, stir...

if its thick, add some water a bit at a time...

mix into cooked pasta or mix into cut up potatoes, cover with foil and bake untill done or spred on pizza dough, add tomato sauce and diced, pan fried tofu for mega dope pizza pie.. also good between vegan bread, fried on each side in soy margarine

Serves: 4 or so

Preparation time: 5 mins

I used this sauce with some pasta sprinkle, no soy sauce, and put it over pasta and spinach suateed in garlic and olive oil. Yummy! My one-year old son even ate it, and he's PICKY.

I have been using this recipe as a cheese staple in my house. I love it, and my children love it. I used soymilk instead of water to make it creamier, tho... We had pita pizzas last night.. OMG! It was the best...

Now try it with vegan Creamy Portobella Mushroom soup instead of soy milk - wow.

I just made this, its excellent. I made it with unsweetend plain soymilk instead of water and put it in my personal blender to make it extra smooth and creamy. I used a little chili powder, some mushroom flavored soy sauce, and salad seasonings with a bit of salt. Its the best cheese replacement ive ever had.  I am extremely allergic to dairy so ive no way to compare to real cheese, and my husband (anything but vegan doesnt like it but thats true of all vegan cheese). I on the other hand cannot wait to use this on EVERYTHING. Thanks so very much.

YUM! I made this to be served with the Garbanzo Tacos on this site. I used soymilk instead of water too, but then it got SUPER thick, and I ended up adding about 2/3 cup of water or so to make it the right consistency. Next time I'll try half water, half soymilk. I added LOTS of garlic powder, garlic and herb seasoning, onion powder, chile powder, oregano, ground red pepper, only a dash of soy sauce, and about a teaspoon of salt. It made it like nacho cheese dip, REALLY good with chips and perfect for the tacos. I love that the ingredients are easy; personally I always have this stuff on hand. Thanks!!!

this is my staple recipe!!  I like to toast all of the spices, flour and nutritional yeast first, then add in the marg, braggs and i like to add in mustard too.  mix it up.  then add in the water and let it reduce.  mmm so simple and easy.

Yum!  I ate this with nachos and salsa.  I was scared to add the soy sauce, but it really gave the sauce flavor!   For spices I used chili powder, paprika and garlic powder.
