Easy Dilly Beer Bread

Ingredients (use vegan versions):

    3 cups unbleached flour, sifted
    2 tablespoons sugar
    4 teaspoons baking powder, sifted
    1/2 teaspoon salt
2 tablespoons (or more) freshly chopped dill
12 ounces warm beer of your choice

Directions:

1) Lightly Oil a 9" pie pan and set aside. Preheat oven to 400 degrees Fahrenheit.

2) In a bowl, stir together sifted flour and baking powder, sugar, salt and dill.  Add the beer last as it will be difficult to "stir" afterward, but make sure it is mixed well. The dough will be lumpy, this is normal.  Place it somewhat evenly in the center of the pan and bake for 35 to 40 minutes, until a toothpick comes out clean when inserted and the top is golden brown. Allow to cool, slice and serve.

Delicious when paired with hummus, but is good by itself too!

Makes: 1 round loaf, Preparation time: 15  minutes, Cooking time: 35 to 40 minutes

Ok, so I've never actually made it myself, but Megan is my friend and she is required to make this bread every time she comes to my house - its so delicious!  The crust is sweet and crunchy and the inside is nice and moist.  We usually dip it in my garlic hummus.  I highly recommend it!

I don't want to be rude or anything, but I've seen this exact recipe before at: http://www.veganchef.com/dilly.htm.

That said, I have made this several times (with and without the dill), and I do think it is very good.

Not rude at all... I got it from a friend, didn't realize where she (obviously) got it from.   Oops!
