Pasta Fazu ( Fazul )Ingredients (use vegan versions): 1 can of Diced Tomatoes
1 can of navy beans, cannelini or similar beans
1 cup of ditalini or elbows
1 large onion (sliced into thin strips)
1-2 tablespoons or canola or coconut oil
Fresh or dried basil (however much you like)
Salt and Pepper to taste.
Directions:You will need 2 medium pots. One for cooking the pasta and one for the sauce.
First brown onion in oil over medium heat, this will take approx 10 minutes or so, stir every minute to avoid burning the onion. (this is where the sweet flavor comes from)
Once the onion is browned and smelling good add the Diced Tomatoes and Navy Beans, (mash up about 1/4 to half the beans if desired, this makes the sauce creamy)
Add basil, salt and pepper then reduce heat and simmer for 30 min
Cook ditalini or elbows according to directions
When pasta is al dente add to the pot of sauce stir and set aside for a few minutes.
Congratulations you just made the most delicious Italian Vegan dishes in the world.
