Brandi's Famous Caramel Apple Pie!

Ingredients (use vegan versions):

your favorite Vegan pie crust recipe
3-4 large Granny Smith apples, peeled, cored, and sliced very thinly
    "Caramel" topping:
    1/2 cup vegan butter
    3 tablespoons flour
    1/2 cup sugar
    1/2 cup brown sugar
    1/3 cup water

Directions:

Heat oven to 425 degrees F.

Pile apple slices in pie crust, and lattice crust over top of pie.

In a saucepan, bring "Caramel" topping ingredients to a boil, then reduce heat and simmer for five minutes.

Pour "Caramel" over top of pie so that it seeps into the apples and covers the lattice.

Bake for 15 minutes uncovered, then cover with foil and continue to back at 350 degrees F. for another 35-45 minutes.

Enjoy!

This was super good. I added a dash of cinnamon to the apples, and a bit of vanilla to the sauce. I only used half the sauce, otherwise it would have overflowed my crust. I thought it would be to saucy, but it wasn't at all. Delicious!! Definitely something you could serve to guests, and it really only took 10 min. to prep. P.S. why do you have the scariest name ever? I'm terrified of La Llarona!!(or however you spell it)

This is in the oven right now, and it smells so yummy! I only had 1 pie crust, so my pie is going topless. Also, I only used 2 apples, as I thought it might overflow if I used more. I don't have any tin foil, but I'm hoping it won't burn... *fingers crossed* I also sprinked some cinnamon on the apples, and added a bit of vanilla to the caramel. YUMMY!

Best apple pie ever. Hands down.
My roommate and I made it last week with the intention of sharing... no chance at that, though.
We're about to make it again. I can't wait.

this pie really is super fantastic.. i made 2 of them for a potluck and it was so good some people didnt even get to try it cuz everyone ate it so fast..

i didnt use all the caramel i made, but it was delicious on its own and i used it in coffees and on ice cream as a topping.. also, if you have a crying baby, feed them some of the caramel.. it makes them stop hehe (i did it to my friends kids and it worked great hehe)

the only changes i made were that i used a combination of half apples, half pears (6 total for 2 pies), added cinnamon to the cut up fruit before i put them in the shell, and i used coconut oil instead of margarine for the caramel.. oh i think i threw a handful of shredded coconut in each pie..

thanks so much for this recipe.. like 6 people asked for it  Laugh

This recipe is awesome!  Thanks so much for posting!  I halved the carmel topping and it turner out nice, but I'll do the full amount if I want a "higer impact" carmel pie sometime.  I've added this to my special recipe scrapbook - its the absolute perfect apple pie!!!!!

This was so easy and soooo tasty. This is the kind of pie that gives vegan baking a good name!! I also added cinnamon as some of the other reviewers mentioned. Yay pie!!!!

Daaaah this is great! Even just the 35 minutes was perfect, and the apples are super soft.
I only tried it out of the oven, but I can't wait to try it cold tomorrow morning. =)=)

I already know this pie is gonna be one of our favorites but I can only make a graham cracker crust since I seem to be unable to make a plain, regular pie crust after about 45 years of trying on and off.  I'd love to be able to make a crust like the photos I'm seeing above.

Thanks ever so much for the recipe and if anyone has any ideas how I can overcome my pie-making impediment, I'd surely welcome some help either here or by pm.

Peace, love and understanding.
