Speedy Garlic Sauce for Pasta

Ingredients (use vegan versions):

    1 clove garlic minced fine
    2 tablespoons olive oil
    1/2 teaspoon parsley
    1/4 teaspoon red pepper flake
    1/4 cup reserved pasta water
    salt and pepper, to taste

Directions:

I make this when there's nothing else in the house, its quick simple and delish!  My boyfriend begs me to make it every time he visits! Great for unexpected dinner guests.

Heat oil in a shallow sauté pan, add remaining ingredients excluding water, and sauté on low until the garlic is tender but not browned.

Prepare the pasta of your choice, add to the pan with reserved liquid, salt and pepper, and toss over medium heat until thickened.

This recipe can be increased by the number of people eating.

Tastes great with vegan parmesan on top!

I'm all over making garlic things that are appearing on the front page. I used four huge cloves of garlic, penne pasta, italian seasonings, s, p, olive oil, and EB. One pot, and about 10 minutes!  Wink

I can attest for the absolute yumminess of this recipe Smiley We lived on this stuff when we were first married...it was easy on the budget plus I didn't know how to cook much else! Italians  call it spaghetti ajo-ojo pepperoncino or  aglio e olio pepperoncino and if you leave out the red pepper it is called aglio e olio- helpful if you want to order it in a Italian restaurant, although they probably use parmesan cheese and butter with the oil - never mind  Undecided

This was perfect when I had no food in the house and didn't feel like cooking anyway...I doubled the sauce and threw in some EB, NY and extra garlic.  Delish!

Not bad ... I changed this a lot though. I used margarine instead of the oil but did add oil eventually. I used garlic powder since I didn't have any fresh garlic, Italian seasoning and about 2 tablespoons chopped onion, and some mushrooms that I needed to use. When I added water, it didn't thicken up very good (I used udon noodles) put I added it anyway and thickened it up by adding a ton of vegan parmesian cheese. It turned out pretty good. Thanks!

Mmmm well i added onion and tomato and didn't use red pepper. Turned out like more of a simple veggie soup, but that's ok. I luv hot soup and am happy to have found this new creation Smiley

I cant believe i havent reviewed this yet, i've made it so many times! This is a basic, yummy, quick, get in my belly recipe. I consider it the jump off point, to just add whatever you want hah. I made it with earth balance tonight, yummy, and this is the first time i actually read the recipe enough to notice it says red pepper Grin. Very good though!

I use half a box or so? It just depends on how much sauce you want, each to their own. I just realized this says ONE garlic clove. I usualy use about 7? haha.

Yes, this recipe is speedy!  I liked it, crushed red pepper and garlic are two of my favorite things.  It was a easy to throw together-- and I had everything on hand.  I added a little bit of soy creamer to the mix, next time I'll add EB.

Wow, this is sooo easy and so good.  I can't believe it only has 3 stars.  I used coconut oil, 3 cloves of garlic, and some italian spice, in addition to the spices in the recipe.  I think I slipped on the red pepper since my throat and tongue are on fire, but it's too good to stop eating.  I added some broccoli at the end of cooking, and I also used sundried tomato spaghetti for a different taste.  Really good.  Def a keeper!

This was soooooooo awesome!!!  I was craving pasta and garlic as usual and then I found this recipe.....YUM!!!  I made a few variations and posted a pic of the end result.  I used about half a jar of minced garlic (I LOVE GARLIC!!), 2 Tbs of rice bran oil, a small tin of these yummy 'accidentally vegan' mushrooms from the supermarket, 2 Tbs of soy margarine and 2 Tbs of vegan parmesan.  I mixed it all up and cooked it on medium heat and then added the pasta and 1/4 cup water from the pasta and let it all thicken.  It was so delicious!!!  I made heaps so I can have it for lunch and dinner tomorrow, that's how good it was!!!  Thank you for the fab recipe!  Smitten
