Beer Bread!

Ingredients (use vegan versions):

    3 cup flour (sifted)
3 teaspoon baking powder (omit if using Self-Rising Flour)
1 teaspoon salt (omit if using Self-Rising Flour)
    1/4 cup sugar
1 (12 oz) can beer (I’ve used an Apricot Wheat)
1/8 to 1/4 cup melted vegan margarine + extra for brushing.

Directions:

I believe I modified this recipe from Food Network.

1. Preheat oven to 375˚F.

2. Mix flour, baking powder, salt, and sugar very well.

3. Add margarine and beer, mix well, but not too much.

4. Pour into a greased and floured loaf pan.

5. Bake 50 minutes, brush top with margarine, bake additional 3 to 5 minutes until top is golden/light brown.

6. Cool 5-10 minutes, remove from pan and cool for at least 15 minutes more before cutting.

Optional:

- I usually add 1/4 cup raisins to mixture before baking.

- Walnuts or pecans might also be good to use.

Serves: 10-12

Preparation time: about 1 hour

Yummmmmmmmmbles. hotforyou Easiest bread on earth.

I added some dried herbs... and I didn't put any margarine in the batter, preferring instead to drizzle it all over the top, which bubbles down around the egdes and makes the crust all golden and chewy-crunchy.

It was a wee bit difficult to get out of the loaf pan. Next time I'll curb my impatience and let it cool/steam for a few minutes, which usually makes things let go of the pan much more easily.

So I made the bread~ridiculously easy to make, and it is amazing! I used it for my pb+j sandwich today and it was so tastey. The stella made it have a musky flavore and I bet using a sweeter beer would make it taste even better!

This was the perfect recipe for me!  So easy and simple ingredients.

I've been trying to make bread for the longest time, but have had no luck.  I blame my failed attempts on the yeast that I'd been using.  I made this bread this morning and it worked!  I finally made a good bread.

Next time I'm going to try using a local raspberry-wheat beer and top the bread with raspberry jam.

very good, and so easy - I've never made bread using baking powder before Smiley i put in some raisins, and used Carlsberg. It turned out a little too sweet for sandwich stuff, but for jam, peanutbutter and other such breakfast-y things it's perfect Smiley I'd probably just add less sugar next time, though Smiley

Made this again, with the Raspberry-Wheat beer I talked about.  Yum!  You can certainly taste hints of raspberry in the bread.

I've been aggravating to accomplish aliment for the longest time, but accept had no luck. I accusation my bootless attempts on the aggrandize that I'd been using. I fabricated this aliment this morning and it worked! I assuredly fabricated a acceptable bread.

YummyYummy! I used self-rising flour, 1/4 c. Earth Balance, & New Belgium's 1554 dark beer... I also added 1/4 c. of dry cheez mix found elsewhere on the site-- http://vegweb.com/index.php?topic=7126.0 -- and it turned out great. Definite make-again!!
