Instant Hot Cocoa Mix

Ingredients (use vegan versions):

1 cup powdered soy milk ("original" style, not flavored)
    1 cup cocoa powder
    1 cup granulated sugar

Directions:

Mix ingredients thoroughly and store in a tightly lidded container.

To prepare, add 1 cup hot water to 5-6 tablespoons of mix.  Stir to combine.

Package individual servings for travel to mooch off of the hot water at continental breakfasts, conferences, and the office water cooler.  Suitable for backpacking.

Serves: 8 or 9

Preparation time: 3 minutes

This is brilliant!  I'm bringing it on my next camping trip.

I made the mix last week and I just tried it.  It is seriously intense.  I would recommend using no more than 4 tablespoons of the mix, even if you love cocoa.  In the future I will only use 3-4.

i would love to try this but where can you find powdered soy milk? is there a specific brand, or is it usually sold in bulk?

I got powdered soymilk in the bulk food section of our local Humboldt Co-op.  I am sooo thankful for this recipe!  it's so good, and a nice, light chocolate treat, not thick or heavy.

Good idea..to make a mix, but I think the proportions are off a bit. I did a 1/4 cup of each, and it's just not quite sweet enough for me. The cocoa is very strong. I can't imagine making this with 5-6 tbs of mix! I did about 3, and still had to add more water. My first time using powdered soymilk.

Really good but I ended up adding more soymilk powder, maybe at least 1/4 more cup and 1/4 more cup extra sugar... it was a little too cocoa tasting before... i also added about half the recommended amount of hot cocoa mix to the water and it was perfect... i am so stoked i can drink this when i have to work overnight... grocery stores are freezing!!! thank u!  Smitten
