Fantastic.  Omnivorous family devoured it and asked for it again.  Per others' suggestion, I used the juice and zest of a whole orange and omitted the water (except for the 2 Tbsp that goes with the cornstarch), and used asparagus to get my kid to eat something green.  It worked!  Thanks for a great recipe.

I thought this recipe was delicious. i added green pepper to the onion in the sauce and i think next time i will put the tofu over broccoli and rice. i also doubled the sauce and i am glad because it was good to have extra for the rice.

Oh, yum! Cheesy This recipe was really good. I even screwed up & mixed the sauce together using 1 whole cup of water, not just 1/4 cup. But before I added this to the onion/garlic mixture, I realized my mistake & dumped some water out... Undecided Then I had to add more vinegar, sugar, soy sauce, etc. to make it flavorful again. Grin Anyway, my point in typing all of this dumbness out is to say that even with this big mistake, it was delicious!

I did cut back on the oil & sugar, and I used frozen/thawed tofu (for the first time!) & it was incredible! I totally loved the texture of the tofu this way! I also added in some steamed broccoli instead of using rice, since I was too impatient to wait for rice to cook... Tongue I'll definitely be making this recipe again!

P.S. Next time, I'll definitely (at least!) double the sauce so there is much more to pour down over rice--which I will include the next time I make this! Wink Yum!

Call me stupid but was the 1/4 cup of water for the recipe or the cornstarch?  I used the 1/4 cup for the cornstarch and the tablespoons for the sauce.  I thought this was really yummy.  However, I doubled the sauce, (except the sugar), but thought the vinegar was a touch too strong.  Maybe the double sugar would have balanced the double vinegar.  I think next time I'll try keeping the recipe as is and not double it.  Thanks for the recipe!!!

This was *very* good! I added a little ginger, some toasted sesame seeds, and cut down a little on the sugar, but otherwise followed the recipe. It completely filled my craving and didn't make me feel too guilty for eating it. I served it over broccoli. Very quick and easy to make as well. Thanks!

Here's my dark dark dark secret: I don't really like tofu! I know I know...I'm such a poor vegeterian! But the truth is...I just look at the white, insipid brick...and I don't know what to do with it...Often, it just sits in the fridge until the mold becomes unbearable!

But(because there is a but!), tonight, I tried this recipe and...Geeeezz! Is this ever good! Thanks God for GOOD tofu, not just bearable...GOOD... Delicious...TOFULIOUS! It is officially my favorite dish!

Thank you thank you thank you!

I added more orange juice before I added the cornstrach because it looked and smelled as if there was too much soy sauce...furthermore, i didn't have pepper flakes...so I added a bit of Tobasco(hot sauce) instead! Oh...and I didn't have green onions, only white ones...it did the trick!

I'll definatly will do this again!

This was wonderful! Better than I remember the real thing tasting.
I was out of cornstarch/arrowroot so I just cooked it down for 20 minutes and it thickened up perfectly.
I also went heavy on the citrus.
I'm going to try this again over a chopped up breaded vegan chicken patty.

BTW, I've tried this and the General Tso's recipe on vegweb and even though that one is great, I liked this one better. Wink

Thanks for a great recipe!

Ok!
I doubled the recipe and added a few T of rum, zuchinni, carrots, and a bunch of fat udon noodles, some more soy sauce and some sweet sauce to liven it up a bit.

I served this with sweet & spicy thai fried rice and vegetable tempura birdsnests. Cheesy
Yum-O!

This was incredibly good!   I was out of lemon juice so I used two tablespoons of orange juice and a dash of dried lemon peel.  I also accidentally doubled the red pepper flakes to a whole teaspoon.  (My red pepper flakes may be old and losing their flavor because it wasn't extra hot like I expected it to be.)  I'm going to have to make this more often!  I loved it! I made this the other evening....it wasn't great but there's lots of potential.

I found it wasn't orangey enough, so next time I will not use the water and just use more orange juice instead.

I used chicken style seitan instead of tofu as that's all I had to hand.  I also doubled the sauce, which I would definitely recommend.

Will try it again with the extra orange juice and maybe some orange zest as well.

This was so tasty!  I had a craving for Orange Chicken so I looked up recipes and came across this one!  I followed the recipe exactly except I added orange zest.  Next time I make it (which will be tomorrow for Thanksgiving), I'll double the sauce as I like extra on my rice.

this was so delicious.  i didnt want to stop eating it!  made some changes.. doubled the sauce like others suggested, except i added 2 tbsp of orange juice concentrate but i think it couldve even used a bit more.  i used a quarter of a yellow onion in place of the green onion and also added portobella mushrooms, a small yellow pepper, and a can of baby corn (cus baby corn is one of my favorite things about asian food).  i also steamed up some broccoli and served it on top of that.  so good - i can't wait for my leftovers, i think i'll throw some cashews on top!
