Bowl of Goodness

Ingredients (use vegan versions):

    container of soy yogurt
    2 tablespoon natural/organic peanut butter
    bran cereal
fruit (banana works well, but you can use whatever you have on hand)

Directions:

Place soy yogurt in a bowl. Add the peanut butter and mix together until its thoroughly combined. Add the cereal and mix till its all coated. Then, top with whatever fruit. Enjoy!

I was in the hospital for an eating disorder, and this was a common breakfast recipe, cause you got your required amounts in one delish bowl.  Hope you like it!

Serves: 1

Preparation time: 3-5 min...it varies

Sorry to hear that. Try bulking up on high calorie foods like nuts and avocados. Also, whole grains.

Good luck on your recovery.  Smiley

I wish I had that in the hospital too! Sounds ten times better than Ensure Plus+. I had to eat (really drink) just that for 4 weeks straight! Ech! After a while, though, it started tasting really good. I guess when you got nothing else to eat, you gotta do with what you got.

Eww Ensure, and scandyshake! bad news. Had those + afterward an NG tube, and the stuff down the tube tastes better. I know that because some of it was leftover so.. well. *hangs head in shame*

Anyways just wondering approximately what size carton of yoghurt that is? The cartons I get are quite big, so I'm pretty sure that wouldn't be right.
Thankyou & tc

Ummm, this was a quick&tasty snack! I used homemade tofu "yogurt" and granola instead of bran flakes, and apple for the fruit. I'm planning to try it with banana, and also almond butter with pear.

I too was in the hospital with anorexia, thankfully a couple years in the past Smiley Though I finally got the (extremely unkind) doctors off my back, I'm still catching up for the growth I missed while sick. So high-cal snacks are a must! Thanx!!

Yum, I made this with about half a cup of made up oatmeal, some vanilla soy yogurt (WHY cannot I not find PLAIN!?) a way gone banana and the peanut butter.  Oh, and a dash of cinnamon.  It sure makes a lot, and it's going to be a good recipe to have on hand for sickness...a much better alternative to Jello.  I am going to have the rest for breakfast tomorrow.  Smiley

Interestingly enough, I have a similiar story.  When I was in the hospital gaining weight for my eating disorder, I ate oatmeal every morning because it was the only food they had to hit the spot. I never used peanut butter in it because the peanut butter had 100% hydrogentated oil (trans fat) and that scared me.  However, nearing the end of my recovery the thereapists took those at 'more stabilized body weights' to the cafeteria and sometimes they lacked vegan options.  So what I did was this:  took 8 saltine crackers, broke them into a latte cup, filled the cup with 3 tablespoons of peanut butter (I used the peanut butter as my source of protein, which called for 3 tablespoons!  also, at this point my fear of trans-fat wasn't as bad because i'd rather eat trans-fats than animal-derived ingredients as the lesser of 2 evils)  and then filled the cup with hot water.  The result looks like this picture and is very tasty!  I definitely recommend hot cereal + peanut butter!  So yummy!  After reading the reviews for this recipe I wonder how many vegans suffer from anorexia or other eating disorders? How many use veganism as a way of limiting fat and calories? : (  I guess I am just thinking out loud.
