Easy Strawberries for Summer

Ingredients (use vegan versions):

    1 lb fresh strawberries
    2-3 tablespoons good balsamic vinegar
    1/4 cup almonds or walnuts
    black pepper, to taste

Directions:

Cut up all the strawberries into thin slices.

If you have a really good balsamic vinegar, you can just drizzle it right over the berries.   Good vinegar is really thick.  If your vinegar is not thick, don't worry.  Take about a 1/4 cup of vinegar and reduce it in a saucepan over medium heat until it becomes syrup-like. Then drizzle the vinegar over the strawberries.

Garnish with some nuts of your choice and top with some pepper. I know it sounds weird, but this is really a fantastic snack or dessert for summer!

Makes: 4 servings, Preparation time: 10 minutes

This was different and tasty.  I thought it tasted best after it had sat a while. Boohoo me, I was out of almonds or anything nutty so I just did without.  I also liked the pepper.  Didn't know if I would, but the flavors all blended together nicely.

This sounds delicious. I LOVE basalmic vinegar, I dump it on everthing and sometimes just drink little bits of it straight. Mmmm......  Cheesy

Surprisingly delicious!  I started out conservatively with the pepper, and ended up grinding a lot more onto the strawberries. Very yummy combo! I think this will become a summer staple.
