BeNo--You Know You Need It!!

Ingredients (use vegan versions):

    1 cup water
    1/8 teaspoon crushed mint
    1/8 teaspoon baking soda
    1/2 teaspoon lemon juice

Directions:

Mix the above ingredients together.  Gulp it down just before your meal--or during.

As vegans, I'm sure we're all aware of the wonderful effects our diet has on our body.  Unfortunately...one side effect for vegans is EXCESSIVE flatulence.  Blech!  If anyone's ever told you the fib that "eventually your body will get used to your diet, and it will go away"--you've been duped!!

Maybe my body is just prone to foulness, but either way, this above remedy works wonders.  Try it and see!

You can substitute crushed mint with sage or thyme.

Serves: varies

Preparation time: 5 seconds

Cool, I think this site just about has a recipe for everything now.  Shocked This is a good idea and I'll try it with thyme because my mint's all asleep for the winter.  Thanks  Smiley

Ha ha, I'm not fully vegan but still have this..."issue" after many meals. I'll have to try this out; my family would be very grateful if it worked!  Grin

I never drew the connection between being vegan and gas.

I just recently converted to veganism and have noticed an increase in explosions from the rear... I thought it was just my body being gross.  Now that I know that other people have the same problem as me, I don't feel so bad walking down the street and having little puffs come out from behind me. I hope I don't sound stupid, but...by crushed, do you mean powdered/ground?

I've tried this three nights now before legume dinners, and am pleased to report that so far, it seems to be working great! No more painful, bloated feeling and reduced (ahem. . . ) "emissions" I think I've seen about a 90% improvement so far. If only this would work for the greenhouse effect!  Wink

Thanks for the recipe!

no, the mint acutally does stuff.  I'm not sure what.....but after plenty of experimenting on my self (TMI!!!) the mint does something.  You can sub it with sage or thyme.  All three work equally well. lol, personally I think it tastes GROSS.  But the benefits are amazing...... Wink
