SKOR Bars

Ingredients (use vegan versions):

    2 matzo crackers or 16 saltine crackers
    1 cup margarine (Earth Balance soy garden)
    1 cup brown sugar
    2 tablespoons corn syrup
    12 oz. chocolate
    optional: chopped almonds for garnish

Directions:

Preheat oven to 300 and pre-oil baking sheet. Line with saltines.

Combine margarine, brown sugar, and corn syrup in small sauce pan over medium heat.  Cook for 2 minutes once bubbling.

Pour caramel mixture over saltines and bake for 8-10 minutes.

Spread chocolate evenly over caramel.  Cool.

Serves: 16

Preparation time: 15 minutes

Wow. I used to eat SKOR bars all the time. Now I can make a vegan treat out of them! I can't wait to try these. Thank you!

These are my ultimate favorite cheat food.  I eat super healthy, but to have this one treat once in a great while, is soooo super good! Grin Cheesy

I love these!  I made them with no corn syrup and used organic cane sugar instead of brown.  Also, I used chocolate chips for the chocolate.  After the crackers bake with the  butter/sugar mixture, I just sprinkled the ch. chips and let them sit for 5 minutes and then spread them with spatula.
YUM!!!  I've even made them with graham crackers.

Wow.  I was running low on "butter" and substituted half of it with peanut butter.  It was amazing!!  Try it!  Following the theme I then added a little more peanut butter to the melted chocolate and sprinkled nuts on top.  It was the best substitution I've ever made. Grin
